POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Product Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the product marketing strategy for key product lines, driving go-to-market plans, and managing a team of product marketers. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, team leadership, market research, competitive analysis, and execution. The manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Sales, and Engineering, to ensure the success of product launches and ongoing market engagement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute comprehensive product marketing strategies to drive market adoption and revenue growth.
- Lead competitive analysis, customer segmentation, and market research to inform product positioning and differentiation.
- Define and refine value propositions, messaging, and positioning for products across various target audiences.
- Oversee the launch of new products and features, coordinating with Product, Sales, Customer Success, and other stakeholders.
- Create and execute go-to-market (GTM) plans, including product collateral, sales enablement materials, and demand generation initiatives.
- Measure and optimize product marketing performance through customer feedback, win/loss analysis, and KPIs.
- Manage and mentor a team of Product Marketing Managers and Analysts, fostering professional growth and high performance.
- Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews for team members.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration efforts, ensuring alignment between the marketing team and other departments.
- Gather and analyze customer insights to influence product development and marketing strategies.
- Act as a voice of the customer within the organization, advocating for customer needs and pain points.
- Conduct regular competitive analysis to stay updated on market trends and competitors' positioning.
- Develop and deliver training for sales teams on product positioning, value propositions, and market dynamics.
- Create tools and materials (e.g., presentations, case studies, battlecards) to support the sales process.
- Collaborate with Sales to gather feedback and iterate on messaging and GTM plans.
- Partner with Product Management to shape product roadmaps based on market needs and business goals.
- Provide input on product features and enhancements that align with customer needs and market demand.
- Work with the demand generation team to create marketing campaigns that drive awareness and generate leads.
- Create and manage content, such as whitepapers, webinars, and blog posts, that positions the product effectively in the market.
- Ensure consistency in messaging across all customer touchpoints and marketing channels.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field. MBA is a plus.
- 7-10+ years of experience in product marketing, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience managing a team of product marketing managers or specialists.
- Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to mentor, coach, and develop team members.
- Experience with go-to-market strategies, competitive analysis, and customer segmentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to C-level executives.
- Proven track record of successful product launches and revenue growth.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and lead projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience in [industry-specific knowledge, e.g., SaaS, B2B technology] preferred.
