About Hippo:
Hippo exists to protect the joy of homeownership. We believe that insurance should protect the things you treasure through an intuitive, modern experience. We provide tailored insurance coverage and preventative maintenance plans that keep you protected throughout your homeowner journey. We’ll also help you find coverage for everything life brings—from auto to flood—reimagining how you care for your home.
About This Role:
Hippo is looking for an AI product leader to identify, build, and scale high-impact AI-powered products across our business — driving growth, operational excellence, and seamless customer experiences.
This is a hands-on, 0→1 builder role. You'll work with small, scrappy cross-functional teams to move quickly from problem discovery to prototype to production. Success in this role means shipping real AI solutions, learning fast, and translating emerging technology into measurable business impact.
You'll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data, Operations, and Business teams to ensure AI is deployed responsibly, transparently, compliantly, and effectively.
You will be the champion and evangelist of AI internally with both technical and non-technical teams to continue to unlock more use cases and value across the organization.
If you are passionate about harnessing AI to transform operations, risk management, and customer experiences into best-in-class capabilities, this is the role for you.
What You'll Do:
- Identify and own high-impact AI opportunities across Hippo’s products and operations, grounded in real customer and business problems across service, claims, underwriting, finance, product teams, and end-customers
- Build and ship AI-powered products — working hands-on with engineers, data scientists, and third-party tools to prototype, test, deploy, and iterate in production
- Lead end-to-end product execution, from problem framing and success metrics through launch, adoption, and continuous improvement
- Make smart build vs. buy decisions and define MVP scopes that balance speed, quality, and long-term scalability
- Design effective human-AI workflows that are intuitive, trustworthy, and aligned with how teams actually work
- Champion responsible AI practices, partnering with the AI Committee to ensure transparency, explainability, and compliance
- Evangelize and build momentum through delivery, then help teams adopt and extend successful AI solutions across the organization
Must Haves:
Required for both levels:
- Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous business problems into shipped solutions with measurable impact
- Comfort rolling up their sleeves to shape MVPs, workflows, experiments, and early production systems
- Thinks end-to-end from data inputs to model outputs to user experience and business outcomes
- Passion for emerging technologies and hands-on experience with latest AI models & tools. Excited to help Hippo build trust-centered AI experiences
- Experience shipping products from early concept through launch and iteration in real-world environments
- Strong understanding of the AI/ML product lifecycle (data readiness, modeling, deployment, monitoring, iteration)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or equivalent practical experience
For the Lead Product Manager level:
- 6+ years of product management experience building high-impact products and features, with at least 1 year working with AI products
- 2+ years of product management experience in insurance or other regulated financial services
For the Principal Product Manager level:
- 8+ years of product management experience building high-impact products and features, with at least 2 years working hands-on with AI products
- Proven track record of setting product strategy, influencing senior leadership, and driving cross-functional alignment at scale
Nice to Haves:
- Advanced degree (MS or MBA)
- 2+ years of product management experience in insurance or other regulated financial services.
- Experience with AI governance, model risk management, or explainability frameworks
- Insurance certifications (CPCU, ARe) or analytics certifications
