The Allegro team is united by a clear purpose—advancing technologies that make the world safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. With over 30 years of experience in semiconductor innovation, we bring that purpose to life across every part of the business—from breakthrough product development and customer success to how we show up for each other and the communities we serve.
The Opportunity:
This role is a key technical leader responsible for the successful introduction and sustained production support of a specific product or group of semiconductor products. This role manages the critical transition from design completion to in-house or outsourced high-volume manufacturing, ensuring robust product performance, high yield, and cost efficiency. The Senior Product Engineer acts as a central technical interface, collaborating extensively with cross-functional engineering teams to proactively resolve complex product issues, drive continuous process improvements, and optimize overall product lifecycle management.
What You Will Do:
New Product Introduction (NPI) Management:
- Lead and manage the engineering activities for new product introductions, ensuring a seamless transfer from design to manufacturing (both internal and outsourced production).
- Collaborate closely with Design, Process, Test, and Reliability Engineering teams during the NPI phase to ensure manufacturability, testability, and reliability of new products.
- Define and validate product characterization plans, perform initial yield analysis, and drive early-stage yield improvement efforts to ensure a smooth production ramp-up.
- Oversee the qualification of new products, including review of qualification data and ensuring adherence to internal and external quality standards.
Production Support & Problem Resolution:
- Provide expert engineering support for products in high-volume production, acting as the primary technical interface for complex product issues and production problems.
- Lead root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions for product failures, yield excursions, maverick lots, and customer returns (CI rejects).
- Interface with Design, Process, Test, Reliability, and Manufacturing Engineering teams to diagnose and resolve product-related issues, including test program problems, hardware, and system-related challenges.
- Manage the disposition of non-conforming material, ensuring timely decisions and appropriate actions to minimize production impact.
Yield & Cost Improvement Initiatives:
- Develop, implement, and sustain process improvements and engineering changes aimed at reducing production costs, enhancing product quality, and significantly increasing manufacturing yields.
- Utilize advanced statistical analysis techniques (e.g., SPC, DOE, FMEA, MSA) to identify areas for improvement and validate the effectiveness of implemented solutions.
- Proactively monitor product performance metrics (yield, quality, reliability) and drive continuous improvement projects throughout the product lifecycle.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication:
- Foster strong collaborative relationships with internal teams (Design, Process, Test, Reliability, Quality, Manufacturing) and external partners (foundries, assembly houses, test houses) to ensure alignment on product goals and problem resolution.
- Effectively communicate complex technical information, project status, and recommendations to diverse audiences, including senior management and cross-functional teams.
Who Your Are:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Product Engineering, Test Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering within the semiconductor industry.
- Demonstrated experience in managing New Product Introduction (NPI) activities from design transfer to high-volume production.
- Proven track record of successfully identifying and resolving complex product issues, yield detractors, and manufacturing problems.
- Experience in driving and implementing process improvements to reduce costs and increase yields.
- Strong understanding of semiconductor device physics, manufacturing processes (wafer fabrication, assembly, test), and product lifecycles.
- Proficiency in statistical data analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab) and methodologies (e.g., SPC, DOE, FMEA, MSA).
- Hands-on experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and test program development/debug.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, product datasheets, and failure analysis reports.
- Familiarity with quality and reliability standards (e.g., AEC-Q100 for automotive products, if applicable).
