Summary Generated by Built In
At Carbon, our mission goes beyond 3D printing.  We are enabling creators everywhere to make what the world needs, right now.  Our company is built on the idea that diverse fields of study must come together to solve intractable problems. We have grand ambitions to create technology that will influence industry around the world. You will be joining a diverse team with a vibrant culture, where team success is as important as celebrating individual contributions.

Help us change the world and we will help you change yours.

This is a high-visibility role requiring a rare blend of engineering authority, program rigor, and commercial acumen. You will lead multi-disciplinary teams—spanning materials science, mechanical design, and software—to ensure our customers don't just adopt our technology, but achieve a measurable competitive advantage through it.

As a Technical Program Manager for Production Scale Applications, you will lead the bridge between Carbon’s breakthrough technology and our customers' factory floors. You are the architect of the "Path to Production”, helping to deliver superior alternatives to traditional manufacturing for the world's most iconic brands. You will manage multi-disciplinary programs as the senior technical lead responsible for the success of our most ambitious customer engagements, integrating Carbon’s DLS™ (Digital Light Synthesis) process into high-volume manufacturing environments for industry leaders across a variety of industries.

You will…
  • Ownership of The "Path to Production": Define and execute the end-to-end technical journey for customers, moving from initial design validation through to global factory-scale deployment of production applications
  • Project Execution: Establish ownership of one or more highly complex programs by turning strategic initiatives into executable plans. Drive overall program execution to completion across all organizations involved, navigating technical and strategic challenges along the way to successfully meet deliverables.
  • Matrix Management: Provide consistent team leadership through influence and example.  Maintain team focus on achieving product requirements and project milestones. Provide continuity from the start to end of the project, managing cross-functional technical teams to successfully meet deliverables.
  • Multi-Disciplinary Integration: Orchestrate specialized engineering workstreams—including Carbon’s materials, software, and hardware products—to solve for customer performance and cost-per-part requirements.
  • Risk & Barrier Removal: Proactively identify "showstoppers" in the production lifecycle (e.g., regulatory hurdles, supply chain gaps, or post-processing bottlenecks) and enlist technical resources to solve them. Act to mitigate risks and remove roadblocks by bringing energy and thoughtful guidance to all matters of problem solving, while tracking issues through to resolution.
  • Program Governance: Establish the frameworks for reporting and milestone tracking that provide absolute transparency to both internal leadership and external partners. Act as a strategic partner with senior leadership in all functions of a project.
  • Production Qualification: Lead the rigorous verification and validation processes, ensuring parts meet required specifications at scale.
  • Customer Success Engineering: Act as a technical interface for the customer at all levels of the organization, ensuring Carbon’s technology stack solves their specific manufacturing constraints and influencing a cooperative product roadmap for future growth.
You have…
  • Depth of Experience: 10+ years of technical leadership in applicable fields, such as high-volume manufacturing, process engineering, application engineering, or hardware-software integrated systems.
  • Leadership: Self motivated to exhibit poised leadership in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.  Ability to multitask and work effectively as an individual contributor as well as a team leader. Experience navigating a matrixed project team structure, sharing resources and accountability with other managers.
  • Strong Problem Solving: Ability to identify issues and work proactively in addressing them.  Creative and methodic in leading teams to address problems in a detail oriented and action biased manner.
  • Diplomatic Communication: Ability to create structure and clarity for the project team during situations of ambiguity.  Effectively escalate, report progress, and relay direction/decisions across the organization.
  • Scale-Up Experience: Experience scaling prototype concepts to a globally distributed production environment, and a proven track record of delivering complex projects that carry significant consequence to the business performance and strategy.
  • Production Mindset: Obsessed with repeatability, yield, and the rigors of a 24/7 manufacturing environment, while comfortable navigating the dynamics of R&D phases of the lifecycle.
