About Our Client
Artificial intelligence has significantly accelerated the ability of go-to-market teams to create content, campaigns, and sales materials. However, speed alone does not guarantee that these materials reflect the perspectives and needs of actual buyers.
Our client helps teams validate their work against insights from real B2B buyers. These insights are drawn from a proprietary buyer intelligence database built through research interviews, with each insight traceable to its original source.
Our client is venture capital-backed and experiencing rapid growth, with annual recurring revenue (ARR) increasing tenfold in 2025. Its customers include Docusign, Intel, Commvault, Verizon, and Twilio. The organization has a team of nearly 20 employees and is expanding across multiple functions.
The company operates a hybrid model, with hubs in Portland, New York City, Boise, and Bozeman. Preference is given to candidates based in one of these locations. The culture emphasizes collaboration, high-quality work, and maintaining a healthy balance between professional responsibilities and personal interests. Team members bring diverse interests and backgrounds, including art, cooking, cycling, dance, and endurance sports.
The Role
Our client is seeking a Lead Product Designer to own product design across the organization, from early-stage exploration through the delivery of polished, customer-facing experiences. This individual will also establish foundational design practices, systems, and standards as the organization continues to grow.
The product presents a distinctive design challenge. Some customers work directly within the platform to build and manage their organization's buyer intelligence, while others access these insights through tools they already use, including Claude and Slack.
The Lead Product Designer will be responsible for creating cohesive, intuitive experiences across these environments, ensuring that each touchpoint feels like part of a unified product.
The organization operates with a high degree of autonomy, moves quickly, and regularly makes decisions with incomplete information. As formal design processes and systems are still developing, this role is suited to a hands-on designer who can deliver exceptional work while introducing the structure and practices needed to elevate design quality across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead product design from early-stage exploration through final implementation.
- Improve the usability, functionality, and visual quality of the existing product.
- Design cohesive experiences across the platform and the external tools through which buyer intelligence is accessed.
- Develop a practical design system that improves consistency and accelerates product development.
- Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to influence what gets built, as well as how it is designed.
- Provide clear, constructive feedback, communicate design rationale, and elevate the overall quality of design across the organization.
- Partner proactively with product stakeholders to address engineering questions and clarify requirements.
- Establish and refine the organization's approach to user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design.
- Help lay the foundation for a future design team while remaining actively involved in hands-on design work.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:
- A strong passion for interests outside of work, recognizing the value of a well-rounded life and diverse personal pursuits.
- Approximately five or more years of professional product design experience.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating thoughtful, end-to-end product design and excellent visual craftsmanship.
- Experience designing complex software products, workflows, and systems rather than focusing exclusively on individual screens.
- A willingness to make timely decisions, learn from mistakes, and recognize that an imperfect decision made early can be more valuable than a perfect decision made too late.
- A desire to contribute to a high-performing team with ambitious goals and strong standards.
- Experience using AI tools both within the design process and as part of broader product experiences.
- The ability to translate ambiguous problems into clear, intuitive, and useful user experiences.
- Strong design judgment and the confidence to advocate for a point of view.
- A collaborative working style, including the ability to challenge ideas constructively, explain reasoning, and adapt perspectives when supported by evidence.
- Experience building, maintaining, or contributing to design systems.
- The ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Experience as an early-stage designer at a startup is considered an advantage.
Ideal Candidate Profile
This role is particularly well suited to a designer who enjoys hands-on execution and seeks meaningful influence over both product direction and the development of design practices within a growing organization.
The position prioritizes an individual contributor who can establish design foundations, shape product experiences, and raise the quality bar across teams. Candidates whose primary career objective is to transition into people management may find the role less aligned with their goals.
Benefits and Perks
- Health Insurance: Medical, dental, and vision coverage, with the company covering 90% of the employee deductible and 75% of dependent coverage costs.
- Retirement Plan: 401(k) with a 3% company match.
- Paid Time Off: Unlimited PTO, with an expected minimum of 10 business days taken annually.
- Company Holidays: 18 company holidays per year.
- Parental Leave: 12 weeks of paid parental leave.
- Flexible Work Environment: A remote-friendly workplace with no required minimum number of office days. Employees based near company hubs are encouraged to participate in occasional in-person collaboration.
- Team Gatherings: Regular team and company-wide in-person events.
- Equity: Meaningful equity participation and the opportunity to define and shape the design function within a growing company.
