The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst to join our Platform Engineering and Security team. This role is pivotal in shaping how we manage compliance and risk through data. You will play a key role in building robust data pipelines to support continuous control monitoring while using insights to drive strategic opportunities within Wise's secure and compliant framework.

What will you be working on?

  • Data Engineering → Build and Optimise Pipelines: Develop, optimise, and maintain data pipelines using Python, REST APIs, DBT, and Airflow to ensure seamless data flow for compliance and risk management.

  • Understanding Control Requirements & Continuous Monitoring: Partner closely with control owners across security domains (such as Access Management, Vulnerability Management, Data Governance, etc.) to translate abstract compliance and testing requirements into concrete, measurable metrics, SLAs, and continuous monitoring dashboards.

  • Compliance and Risk → Define KPIs: Collaborate with stakeholders to define and refine key performance indicators necessary for monitoring compliance and risk for our IT systems, ensuring data accuracy and relevance.

  • Opportunity Identification → Insights: Utilise data to identify opportunities for enhancing compliance processes, mitigating risks, and driving higher efficiency throughout the organisation.

Qualifications

Technical Expectations:

  • Proficient in Python, with experience in automation and building data pipelines.

  • Strong expertise in working with tools like DBT and Airflow for ETL processes.

  • Skilled in using REST APIs to develop and manage data integrations.

  • Proficient in SQL and familiar with data visualization tools such as Looker, Superset, PowerBI, or Tableau.

  • Bonus: Familiarity with security frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST), and the concept of continuous control monitoring (CCM). 

Soft Skills:

  • Analytical Mindset: Strong ability to interpret data, identify trends, and drive data-based decision-making.

  • Critical Thinking: Help stakeholders to define what to measure, ensuring the resulting data accurately reflects control operating effectiveness.

  • Strategic Thinking: Excellent ability to build trust and influence across various teams, conveying complex concepts clearly to influence diverse stakeholders.

  • Problem-Solver: Proactively identifies and implements solutions to improve data processes and analytics.

Skills Required

  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines/ETL processes using Python, dbt, and Airflow
  • Proficient in Python for automation and data engineering
  • Experience integrating with and using REST APIs for data ingestion
  • Proficient in SQL for data analysis and pipeline validation
