Lead Process Engineer

Job Summary:

We seek a competent and technically strong Senior Lead Process Engineer to join our Process Engineering Team, which specializes in supporting equipment sales for large mineral processing projects. In this role, you will lead process design and engineering efforts across multiple project phases — from conceptual studies and test work support to basic engineering and commissioning support. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, fit-for-purpose processing solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead process engineering activities across study phases (Test work support, Conceptual Flowsheet development, PFS, FS) and basic engineering for mining and mineral processing projects.
• Develop and review process design deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, process descriptions, equipment specifications, and datasheets.
• Provide technical leadership and direction to a team of process engineers, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance with project and industry standards.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers, and other discipline leads to align technical solutions with project requirements, schedule, and budget.
• Participate in process design reviews, HAZOPs, and value engineering sessions.
• Support equipment selection, procurement activities, vendor evaluations, and technical bid reviews.
• Contribute to the preparation of engineering cost estimates and project proposals.
• Provide technical support during construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases.
• Ensure all designs meet applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical, Metallurgical, or Process Engineering.
• 10+ years of relevant experience, preferably in an EPCM or consulting environment focused on mining and mineral processing.
• Strong knowledge of mineral processing unit operations (e.g., crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching, solid-liquid separation).
• Proficient in process simulation and design tools (e.g., METSIM, Aspen, JK SimMet).
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects or workstreams and deliver high-quality technical outcomes.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to interface directly with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in mentoring junior engineers and promoting knowledge sharing within the team.

Preferred Experience:

• Commodities: copper, gold, phosphates, lithium rare earths rare earths]
• Experience in leading testwork
• Experience with greenfield and brownfield project execution
• Professional Engineer or actively pursuing professional registration (advantageous)
