Lead Engineer – White Liquor and Evaporation (WLE) TU products

Join our WLE Process & Applications team as a Lead Engineer and play a key role in delivering technically strong and lifecycle‑optimized WLE solutions to our global customer base. In this role, your primary technical focus will be on Evaporation & white liquor plant engineering, while working within a broader context that includes evaporation, Ash treatment system, Recausticizer and Limekiln. You will contribute to customer success by supporting WLE solutions across their full lifecycle – from capital project design and execution to service, upgrades, modernization and long‑term operational performance.
You will be part of a globally distributed WLE Process & Applications organization, with colleagues working mainly in Chennai, Gothenburg, Karlstad and Copenhagen. This role plays a key part in global deliveries through strong engineering execution and close cooperation between the Chennai, Sweden and Denmark.
Your role and responsibilities
As a Lead Engineer – WLE Process & Applications, your responsibilities will primarily focus on WLE products, while considering the wider pulp mill process and lifecycle:
- Lead and perform process and engineering in WLE projects within capital deliveries and service scopes
- Act as a Lead Engineer with technical responsibility, working in close collaboration with product management located in Sweden and Denmark.
- Develop process concepts, engineering solutions and technical configurations based on customer needs and lifecycle requirements
- Perform dimensioning, calculations and technical evaluations related to WLE systems and interfaces related to pulp mill products
- Prepare, review and coordinate technical documentation, specifications and engineering deliverables
- Support service, upgrade, troubleshooting and modernization projects, ensuring optimal lifecycle performance
- Participate in customer meetings, technical discussions and problem solving together with global stakeholders
- Contribute to commissioning activities, performance evaluations, HAZOPs and guarantee‑related tasks as required

What you bring
We are looking for a strong professional in pulp mill process or heat exchanger design with a lifecycle‑oriented mindset. To succeed in this role, you will have the following profile:
- B.E or M.E degree in Thermal, Energy, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- Either proven experience in Pulp mill engineering and design within capital projects and/or service deliveries
- Or strong operational and process background of pulp mill processes, gained through operational or process roles, with
- 5–10 years of experience in pulp mill operations, process engineering or similar positions
- Ability to translate operational insight into technically sound engineering solutions across the pulp mills lifecycle

Skills Required
- B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
- M.E/M.Tech
- 5-10 years relevant experience
- Process design knowledge of steam/chemical recovery boilers (thermo-hydraulic design, circulation, metal temperature calculations)
- Knowledge of environmental systems (NCG/DNCG) and auxiliaries
- Heat transfer, heat and mass balance, and chemical stoichiometric calculations
- Knowledge of flue gas emission requirements and measurement standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- AutoCAD (ACAD)
- COMOS tool
- Familiarity with ASME and EN standards for piping and pressure vessels
- Ability to perform P&ID creation, pipe sizing, pump and valve specification
- Experience conducting HAZOP studies
- Ability to coordinate with sub-suppliers for product localization
- Support for erection and commissioning troubleshooting
- Compliance with company code of conduct and HSEQ requirements
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English; team player and independent contributor
