Lead Platform Architect

What You’ll Do

We are looking for a Lead Platform Architect who will play a key role in our product development by mentoring, motivating and delivering exceptional code.  You will lead the design and development of our platform and infrastructure, working on projects that will allow you to wear many hats and flex both technical development and collaborative communication skills.  Your main responsibility will be the development and implementation of Brightidea’s web applications to create a process for innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product teams to design and implement robust, high-performance, data-driven web applications
  • Lead the architecture and design of web applications from the ground up, with a focus on extensibility, scalability, and security
  • Provide insight and guidance on modernizing legacy platforms to the latest and greatest technologies
  • Solve complex problems with innovative and elegant design and delivery
  • Develop and maintain internal components and libraries
  • Integrate third-party technology into the Brightidea tech stack
  • Enforce coding standards and set a high standard for code quality
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and development
  • Lead team and manage projects to ensure timely and successful delivery
  • Participate in the hiring process for new engineers, ensuring we build a strong and diverse team

Desired Skills and Attributes

  • 8+ years professional experience building front and back end web experiences
  • Solid understanding of web standards, CSS-based design, cross-browser compatibility
  • Expert knowledge of PHP frameworks, such as Yii
  • Expert knowledge of SQL and database design
  • Expert knowledge of modern Javascript frameworks (React preferred)
  • Experience with Git and version control
  • Knowledgeable with software development lifecycles (Agile, Kanban, etc.) 
  • Familiar with test driven development processes
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and services, such as AWS or Azure
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities
  • Strong background in software engineering and/or architecture
  • Comfortable taking ownership of projects and showcasing key accomplishments;
  • Passion for learning and staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry trends
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work quickly and independently with minimal oversight
  • Ability to accept feedback and constructive criticism positively
  • Extremely strong and demonstrable work ethic

Compensation

$225,000 - $250,000 OTE
