Lead Operator

About this opportunity:

The Lead Operator is accountable for providing the field operations team with daily direction to operate in a safe, efficient, and environmentally conscious manner. This role provides leadership by identifying and implementing improvements to enhance productivity, efficiency and safe operations.

The Lead Operator will cover for the Operations Coordinator as needed and is a developmental position for individuals that demonstrate leadership abilities and supervisory potential. Individuals in this role should be willing to progress to the Operations Coordinator supervisory position.

Work Environment:

• This position is located in Edson and requires the successful candidate to live in the area.

• This is a full-time employee position working a shift rotation.

What you’ll do:

• Monitor daily production activities, including sampling and testing, in accordance with area responsibilities.

• Confirm the accuracy of operational records (e.g. log sheets, work permits and reports) and provide field production updates to Leadership and authorized personnel as needed.

• Prioritize, delegate, and schedule Edson Field projects.

• Support and mentor operators through coaching, on-the-job training and assessments, ensuring they receive all necessary training to perform their tasks safely and efficiently.

• Complete monthly assurance activities.

• Coordinate daily operations, maintenance, and turnaround activities, maintaining regular communication with Maintenance, Engineering, Asset Integrity and external services.

• Troubleshoot all area-specific equipment to optimize performance to meet production targets as per Cenovus guidelines.

• Assist in all activities associated with turnarounds, commissioning and start up projects.

• Participate in operations leadership meetings and turnaround support.

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

• Legally authorized to work in Canada

• High school diploma

• 10+ years' experience or 9 years of experience plus journeyman trades

• Minimum of 3 years conventional oil and gas field and facility operations experience.

• Refridge plant experience is considered an asset.

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
