Wells Fargo is seeking Lead Network Engineer for DDI Team. DDI team is focused on providing engineering design, implementation and second level support of core network services throughout the corporate network. These core network services include the Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) service, and Network Time Protocol (NTP) service.
In this role, you will:
- Work closely with other engineers, leads, and other lines of business to provide holistic DNS, DHCP, NTP, IP Address Management, and Domain Management administration and operations support for our business.
- Work closely with management/Leads in identifying, planning, designing, and managing the execution of internal projects and service improvement initiatives.
- Responsible for the welfare and development of the DDI services for the Bank within the established Service Level Objectives.
- Provide technical expertise of various Network technologies including but not limited to DNS, DHCP, IP address Management, Load Balancing and Network Security products.
- Consults with technical groups, users and/or vendors to identify and influence functional specifications and business/technical requirements.
- Proposes and creates conceptual network design/hardware reconfiguration and implementation methods.
- Design, document, test, maintain, and provide issue resolution recommendations for highly complex DDI and NTP solutions.
- Plans and oversees network studies and traffic analyses. Oversees forecasts of network traffic and capacity.
- Design work is creative, unique, sophisticated and complex.
- Understands and ensures compliance and risk management requirements for supported area are met.
- Need to be capable of creating technical/engineering/business logic documentation and collaborate with automation teams to develop the features.
- Responsible for investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving complex and high impacting incidents primarily on the DNS, DHCP and IP address management solutions and infrastructure used at Bank.
- Provide periodic 24/7 on-call support rotation and some work will be required to be done during off hours if essential.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Network Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in DNS (Domain Name Services), DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) & IPAM (IP Address Management) Systems, with ample experience on DNS software (BIND, Microsoft DNS) and DHCP software (ISC), Anycast & NTP Services on large enterprise environments.
- Ample experience with IP Address Management (IPv4 & IPv6)
- At least 5+ years of experience managing and supporting a top-tier DDI product such as Bluecat on large enterprise network environments.
- The candidate must possess in-depth technical knowledge of the competitive vendor landscape and be adept at translating complex technology terms for executive levels and internal customers. Additionally, must actively apply their broad knowledge across network and security disciplines and possess a comprehensive network vision.
- Advanced network troubleshooting skills and extensive knowledge of network protocols and technologies such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, UDP, Manual/Static/Dynamic DHCP, DNS, BIND, DNS, etc.
- Experience with network management and monitoring tools (Syslog, Grafana, Broadcom, Splunk).
- Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication with the ability to communicate at all organizational levels clearly and effectively.
- Expertise in global service delivery in Technology Infrastructure Engineering & Operations domain
- Advance DDI skill and experience in US Banking organizations
- Knowledge in one or more scripting languages (Perl, Python). Understanding of REST APIs used by the enterprise.
- Experience in using JIRA, GitHub and Confluence.
- Good knowledge of Agile methodologies and Kanban principles
- Must be organized and have rigorous attention to detail.
- Good negotiation, conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
- Industry certification like DDIP or any core DDI certification.
- Bachelor's and/or master's degree in engineering/technology disciplines
Job Expectations:
A DDI Lead Engineer is expected to provide technical leadership and end-to-end expertise across DNS, DHCP, IPAM, Anycast, and NTP services while ensuring stable, secure, and compliant operations. The role includes designing scalable DDI architectures, leading major projects and service improvements, and driving automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy. The engineer serves as the escalation point for complex incidents, performs detailed capacity planning and forecasting, and ensures high-quality change execution with proper validation and customer communication. Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams, clear documentation, mentoring of junior engineers, and participation in global on-call support are essential to maintaining reliability and delivering a world-class DDI service.
