The Opportunity
Due to our sustained growth, we are currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our Minerals Processing Brownfields team located in Adelaide. If you're a self-motivated, results-driven individual passionate about developing your engineering skills and experience, this role is for you.
This position reports directly to the Mechanical Team Lead and involves developing mechanical design solutions and associated design deliverables on projects from concept through to detailed design for our clients.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical engineering scopes on projects and guide the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures
- Perform and/or review mechanical and piping design calculations and analysis
- Develop and/or review technical specifications, datasheets, engineering scopes and other design documentation
- Develop complex mechanical and piping design solutions
- Lead the selection and procurement of equipment, manage vendor packages and integrate vendor data into the engineering design
- Manage the budget and schedule for the delivery of the mechanical engineering and drafting scope on projects
- Support continuous improvement of engineering standards, systems and processes
- Coach and mentor junior engineers on technical aspects and project delivery
Qualifications, skills and experience:
The candidate must demonstrate the following attributes;
- Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical)
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a design/consultancy environment within Resources or Energy & Chemicals Industry
- Sound understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices
- Demonstrated experience working on multi-discipline projects and leading the mechanical scope
- Sound understanding of project management principles and controls
- Ability to lead a small team
- Ability to work and make decisions independently
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
