Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
- Lead and manage the design, development, and verification of complex assemblies, sub-assemblies and sub-components
- Select appropriate materials, processing methods and equipment to facilitate manufacture
- Contribute to and coach engineers in the core deliverables
- Lead the execution of product design, validation, and certification of industrial instrumentation
- Generate and maintain detailed engineering documentation including drawings, BOMs, tolerances, GD&T annotations, specifications, and design reports.
- Evaluate system level requirements by brainstorming with Product Specialists, Product Managers, and other peers throughout the organization
- Execute feasibility studies during concept phase of development
- Collaborate closely with Electrical, Firmware, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to ensure seamless integration
- Design and develop products considering global design standards & requirements
- Support sustaining and obsolescence activities across a broad product portfolio
Qualifications/Skills Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or university
- 5+ years’ experience with design and verification of industrial products
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks for part design, assemblies, drawings, and design reviews.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
- GD&T experience with demonstrated application in production drawings.
- Experience managing engineering changes using structured processes and tools.
- Experience designing mechanical products with internal electronics (PCBs, connectors, cabling, thermal considerations).
- Familiarity with ERP/PLM systems such as SAP and/or ECTR.
- Effective communicator within technical and non-technical environments
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to perform in a team environment, across functions, and with customer and suppliers
