The Role:
Our site in Entegris Canada - Toronto is seeking a Lead, Manufacturing Operations Technology to join our team. The Lead is responsible for supporting safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing operations within a 24x7 chemical production facility.
This role focuses on process safety, optimization, troubleshooting, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance yield, quality, and throughput while maintaining strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards.
You will work directly with operators, supervisors, maintenance, and engineering to stabilize processes, solve problems in real time, and drive sustained operational performance.
Success in this role is demonstrated by the consistent, stable performance of plant operations. The Lead establishes credibility as the go-to technical resource, building strong relationships with operators and supervisors while developing a deep understanding of the processes, risks, and failure modes. They drive measurable improvements in key performance indicators such as yield, waste reduction, process stability, and equipment uptime, while strengthening procedural discipline and effectively closing root cause investigations and corrective actions. Over the longer term, success is defined by becoming a true partner to the Production Manager—ensuring reliable, shift-to-shift execution, proactively identifying and resolving technical issues, and supporting a capable, confident operations team—while embedding a strong safety and compliance culture and continuously improving cost, throughput, and overall plant performance.
What You’ll Do:
Technically leads, coaches, and develops Production Supervisors and Team Leads across all shifts to ensure consistent technical capability, sound decision‑making, and safety. Collaborates cross‑functionally within manufacturing to address and resolve production issues.
Champions process safety and contribute to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, support PSM and safety programs
Own Technical Performance of Operations, act as the primary technical resource for all production areas across shifts, ensure processes are operated within defined parameters, procedures, safety limits
Maintain and improve SOPs, batch records, and operating standards as well as support management of change (MOC) and ensure technical risks are understood and mitigated
Maintains a strong presence on the production floor through regular off‑shift engagement, including early mornings, nights, and weekends, to verify standards and reinforce a strong safety culture.
Champions safety programs, processes, procedures, and tools, ensuring initiatives to improve workplace safety are effectively implemented. Actively participates in and promotes employee involvement in Safety Leadership Team (SLT) initiatives, company‑sponsored safety programs, and 5S activities.
Conducts audits and oversees production processes and employees to ensure product quality and compliance with established standards, focused audits, and work practices. Monitors documentation and electronic transactions to ensure the accuracy of work orders and inventory records.
Responsible for Production Troubleshooting, providing real-time technical support to operations, conducting root cause analyses (RCAs), implementing CAPAs and collaborating with maintenance and engineering teams.
Optimizes production‑related cost performance for the operating area, including labor efficiency, overtime, yield, scrap, rework, and downtime. Prepares reports and presents findings.
Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement continuous process improvements.
Any other duties as assigned.
What We Seek:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 4 years of experience leading technical operations in a chemical manufacturing facility.
Knowledge of reactors, distillation, and process systems.
Familiarity with DCS/SCADA systems.
Understanding of Lean/Six Sigma principles.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Proven ability to partner and collaborate effectively across functions.
Experience fostering innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Ability to make timely, data‑driven decisions in a fast‑paced setting.
Experience using ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and standard manufacturing business tools; strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including off‑shift support, as required in a manufacturing environment.
Lean Sigma Champion training or certification required (must be completed if not already certified).
Outstanding Candidates Will Have:
Experience applying continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.
Demonstrated success improving manufacturing performance, including increasing yield, reducing material usage variance (MUV), minimizing rework and scrap, and improving equipment uptime.
Experience working in regulated or high‑risk process manufacturing environments.
