What is the role?

Group Functions and Flutter Entertainment Sofia are an incredibly exciting part of Flutter to work in.

New position within Group Legal Team, responsible for legal matters in Sofia. Focus on commercial and employment law, corporate governance, compliance, data protection, IP, tax, litigation, and more.

The Sofia Leadership Team are important collaborators for this role, so showcasing credibility, challenging, and influencing at this senior level is vital.

• Take charge of all legal issues in Flutter Sofia, harmonizing legal strategies with organizational objectives.
• Furnish pragmatic, business-focused, and forward-looking legal counsel to the Sofia Leadership Team.
• Support and advise on all employment law matters.
• Advise and support on all other legal matters arising in Flutter Sofia, including litigation, IP, governance etc.
• Advise on company policies, employee relations, and local labour law requirements, in collaboration with the People team.
• Cultivate positive relationships with Global Legal Team peers and legal teams in other hub locations, exchanging protocols to support Flutter's collaboration across the group.
• Foster connections with and serve as a reliable consultant to important customers, like global customers, the leadership teams, and broader teams in Sofia.

• Foresee and address upcoming regulations, demonstrating the capacity to understand, condense, and effectively convey the impact of fresh legal and regulatory changes on the business.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and offer proactive mentorship to internal collaborators.
• Evaluate and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of strategic and commercial decisions and the legal implications that arise.
• Where relevant, aid in the development and automation of processes to scale efficiencies.
• Manage external legal resource to ensure a comprehensive and cost-efficient legal support to all areas of the business.

• Seeking a seasoned attorney with 8+ years PQE, interested in Flutter's business, with expertise in commercial contracts, IP, employment law, data protection, and litigation.
• Tangible evidence of providing sound counsel to substantial corporations on a wide array of challenging legal concerns within a dynamic and fast-paced company.
• Proven confidence and maturity to effectively deal with complex and challenging situations.
• We typically look for people with experience at multinational organisations or highly regarded law firms with experience as an in-house lawyer. We value our people and culture highly, so a suitable candidate must be an outstanding communicator and be great with people.
• The applicant must translate legal rules clearly, discuss solutions effectively, focus on business needs, and challenge senior leaders.
• Demonstrating initiative and the ability to independently operate in a dynamic setting while effectively handling diverse tasks is crucial.
• Extensive experience managing internal and external collaborators.
• Proficient in corporate, commercial, and employment law.
• Advanced English (verbal and written); additional languages are a plus.
