Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to own the administration, reliability, and technical governance of our Electronic Communications Archiving and Surveillance platform, Theta Lake. This role will serve as the primary Theta Lake platform owner and administrator, responsible for platform stability, feed ingestion, surveillance enablement, compliance readiness, and integrations across regulated communication channels such as email, chat, collaboration tools, and voice.
The role is critical to ensuring regulatory compliance, data completeness, integrity, and surveillance effectiveness for electronic communications.
In this role, you will:
- Lead complex initiatives to develop infrastructure to provide solutions for business applications
- Participate in various projects intended to continually improve or upgrade the infrastructure
- Evaluate internal and external software solutions which could be leveraged to meet target state architecture goals
- Review and analyze high impact outages to ensure the proper processes and procedures are in place to avoid problems in the future
- Design, build, deploy and maintain infrastructure solutions through collaborative efforts with the team and third party vendors
- Design, code, test, debug and document programs using Agile development practices
- Make decisions in technical designs, implementation plans and identify project risks and resource requirements
- Direct the daily risk and control flow of operations, focusing on policies, procedures and work standards to ensure success
- Recommend courses of action to maintain cost effectiveness and achieve results
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
- Interact with customer and vendor
- 5+ years of Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Experience with electronic communication archival and regulated financial services surveillance programs (e.g., broker-dealer / banking compliance environments).
- Familiarity with complementary platforms/tools: Verba, ZL, Microsoft Purview, or other archival and compliance ecosystems.
- Understanding of governance frameworks and audit practices: control evidence, approvals, change logs, and policy traceability.
- Experience with scripting/automation for operational reporting (PowerShell, Python) and data analysis (SQL, KQL, Splunk).
- Exposure to eDiscovery and legal hold processes and cross-functional workflows.
- Administer Theta Lake environment(s): user access controls, roles, entitlements, integrations, and workflow configuration.
- Evaluate internal and external software solutions which could be leveraged to meet target state architecture goals
- Surveillance Rule Engineering & Tuning: Configure and maintain Theta Lake surveillance policies, including keyword/lexicon detection, behavioral patterns, risk scoring, and alert routing. Tune rules to reduce false positives/false negatives while maintaining regulatory defensibility and coverage.
- Create and maintain rule documentation, rationale, change history, and approvals aligned to governance processes.
- Partner with messaging/archiving/source teams to ensure ingest integrity from upstream sources (e.g., M365/Teams/Exchange, voice recording systems, file shares).
- Validate completeness and accuracy of ingested content and metadata against source systems, support reconciliation and evidence integrity checks.
- Identify data gaps, ingestion anomalies, and mapping issues, drive remediation through engineering and vendor support channels.
- Compliance & Regulatory Alignment -Translate regulatory and policy requirements into implementable surveillance controls (e.g., monitoring coverage, retention alignment, audit trails).
- Support audits/exams by producing configuration evidence, control mapping, and surveillance outcome metrics.
- Ensure surveillance workflows support legal hold and eDiscovery readiness, where applicable.

- 5+ years of experience in eComms compliance, surveillance engineering, archiving governance, or related security/compliance engineering roles.
- Direct experience with Theta Lake, ZL, environment setup, operations, upgrades, ingestion troubleshooting, and vendor coordination.
- Strong hands-on experience with Theta Lake configuration and surveillance capabilities (policy, lexicon, workflow, and alerting).
- Working knowledge of communications platforms and data sources such as Microsoft 365 (Teams, Exchange Online), chat systems, voice/recording platforms, and digital collaboration tools.
- Experience in data validation concepts: data completeness, accuracy, lineage, evidence integrity, and reconciliation approaches.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot ingestion issues, mapping inconsistencies, and operational failures using logs, metadata, and platform tools.
- Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills-able to explain technical configurations in compliance terms.
- Hands on experience of 5+ years in Application & Production support with hands on experience with Windows/Linux Operating System, Oracle database
- Hands on experience of 3+ years in ZL, Vantage, Theta Lake and Similar platform
- Hands on experience with one or more of these tools - Splunk, App Dynamics, Grafana, Autosys
- Good understanding of Incident & Problem Management and Service Now
- Self-starter with good verbal and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
