Job Description

We’re looking for a Lead, Engineering Platform Strategy & Governance to define the strategy, operating model, standards, and performance frameworks for PSD’s shared engineering platform. This role will help make software delivery across the Productivity Solutions Division faster, safer, more reliable, and more measurable by ensuring platform capabilities are governed clearly, adopted consistently, and improved through data-driven decision-making.

This role will lead the Platform Strategy & Governance function and partner across Platform Engineering, DevSecOps, Product, Security, QE, and engineering teams to translate organizational priorities into governance models, investment priorities, metrics frameworks, and execution plans for PSD’s internal developer platform and DevOps ecosystem.

Impact

Your leadership will establish the operating model, governance system, and performance discipline for PSD’s shared engineering platform. By aligning standards, metrics, investment priorities, and adoption mechanisms, you will help improve developer productivity, deployment reliability, operational resilience, security posture, and software delivery consistency across PSD.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the Platform Strategy & Governance function, including team priorities, operating cadence, performance expectations, and execution plans.

  • Define the strategy and governance model for PSD’s shared engineering platform, DevOps ecosystem, and platform operating model.

  • Establish service ownership, decision rights, governance forums, standards, exception processes, and accountability mechanisms for shared platform capabilities.

  • Translate PSD and Platform Engineering & DevSecOps strategy into actionable platform governance, standards, metrics, and roadmap priorities.

  • Own engineering performance frameworks, including DORA metrics, platform adoption, reliability, operational resilience, cost, service quality, and maturity models.

  • Lead operational governance cadences, including platform reviews, maturity assessments, postmortems, risk reviews, and standards exception processes.

  • Partner with platform leads to shape the platform investment roadmap and prioritize capabilities based on adoption, reliability, developer productivity, cost, quality, and risk.

  • Resolve conflicting priorities across engineering, product, security, QE, and platform teams by balancing speed, cost, quality, security, and control.

  • Translate performance insights into actionable improvement plans that increase developer productivity, deployment reliability, and platform adoption.

  • Align Engineering, Product, Security, QE, and platform stakeholders on expectations, controls, adoption targets, decision rights, and platform standards.

Qualifications

What You Bring

  • Typically 5+ years of experience formally or informally leading people, projects, and/or programs.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • Strong background in software engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, developer productivity, SDLC governance, or engineering operating models.

  • Experience leading teams, programs, or cross-functional initiatives in complex software engineering environments.

  • Experience translating organizational strategy into operating plans, governance models, metrics frameworks, and execution priorities.

  • Experience defining standards, service ownership, decision rights, performance expectations, and governance models for shared engineering platforms or DevOps ecosystems.

  • Strong command of engineering productivity and delivery metrics, including DORA, adoption, reliability, quality, cost, and operational performance indicators.

  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicting priorities and align senior stakeholders across engineering, product, security, quality, and platform organizations.

  • Experience balancing speed, cost, quality, security, compliance, and control in enterprise or regulated software delivery environments.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to turn metrics and governance insights into practical platform roadmap decisions.
