Roles and Responsibilities
- NPI & Validation Leadership: Lead end-to-end NPI / ToW projects—from initial review and prototyping through validation testing and project approval. Coordinate with cross-functional teams and Competency Units to ensure project success.
- Test Management & Execution:
- Design test arrangements, layouts, and Bill of Materials (BOM) for validation. Design/develop testing tools.
- Manage external test lab relationships, including procurement, scheduling, and program oversight.
- Execute type tests per IEC standards.
- Validate qualification and assembly processes for localized parts.
- Engineering & Design Support:
- Provide technical expertise on manufacturability and testing to resolve supplier/internal queries.
- Lead cost-reduction initiatives through structural re-design, focusing on DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and local supply chain integration.
- Develop concept designs for testing of GIS components.
- Facilitate technical decision-making through FMEA and Value Engineering workshops.
- Product Lifecycle Management: Lead the implementation of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) for range management and standardization projects, ensuring rigorous cross-functional coordination.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion the "Lessons Learned" process to drive institutional knowledge and improve design/testing workflows.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 20+ years in Mechanical Design, NPI, and product validation.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Expertise in CAD/PLM (Creo Parametric, Windchill, AutoCAD).
- Deep knowledge of GD&T, GPS tolerancing, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Extensive experience with HV Switchgear international standards (IEC, IEEE).
- Subject Matter Expertise: Proven proficiency in type testing protocols.
- Communication: Excellent oral/written English with the ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
