This position is for full-time employment in our Bengaluru office, this is primarily an in-office position although some flexibility will be allowed due to alignment with North American colleagues (e.g. late start/late finish WFH days).

Job Summary:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Lead Engineer in our Bangalore office to lead, inspire, and scale our Site Integration and Platform Engineering team. The ideal candidate will provide strong individual contributions while also serving as scrum master and team lead for an agile team of 4-6 engineers. The ideal candidate possesses deep technical expertise in cloud software development, web scraping, browser automation, and a strong grasp of Agile practices to help the team scale and efficiently execute. Working closely with the Head of Platform Engineering, product managers, and other team leads, you will play a pivotal role in achieving our engineering goals and have the opportunity to influence the technology stack that drives our organization's success. This role is hybrid, with a requirement to be in the Bangalore office at least 3 days a week, but flexible due to a high degree of involvement with European and North American team members.

Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership and Management:
• Manage and oversee a geographically distributed engineering team of 4-6 engineers responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performing software systems.
• Participate in engineers' coaching, hiring, and mentorship, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high team performance.
• Lead by example, embodying our work ethics and engineering principles and encouraging process adherence and evolution within the engineering teams and cross-functional partners.
• Foster effective relationships with partner teams through accountability, transparency, and open communication, highlighting and addressing any issues or concerns.
• Coordinate the efforts of geographically distributed teams across different regions.




• Technical Strategy and Delivery:
• Drive the relevant aspects of technical strategy and provide guidance to align engineering efforts with company goals.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies, influencing the evolution of our engineering tech stack.
• Monitor key reliability and performance indicators of the teams’ systems, identify areas for improvement and suggest enhancements.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of experience in cloud software development, including experience as a team lead or engineering manager in a dynamic Agile environment
• A degree in Computer Science or a related field is a plus
• Strong understanding and experience of Agile and DevOps principles and practices
• Strong understanding of microservice architecture and best practices for building and deploying in the cloud
• Deep understanding of distributed systems architecture and horizontal scalability.
• Proficiency in API-oriented systems design, development, and maintenance.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Preferred Experience with the Following Tech/Tools:

• Proficiency in Ruby is required
• Experience with web scraping automation, Puppeteer, Playwright or other browser automation tools is strongly preferred.
• A basic understanding of Javascript (node.js) is required
• Familiarity with Java, Python, R, or other standard data analysis languages, tools, or frameworks is beneficial.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, embrace change, and demonstrate flexibility.
