Job Scope: This mid-level Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer position requires 3 to 7 years of industrial experience to design small and large-scale engineering projects under general supervision. The role focuses on delivering cost-effective, constructible designs while coordinating with cross-functional teams and providing technical guidance to junior staff.
Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Design & Engineering: Produce detailed electrical layouts, installation documents, load center sizing, grounding plans, and lighting/power systems.
Calculations & Optimization: Perform wire sizing, voltage drop, conduit fill, and motor control center loading calculations.
Project Collaboration: Review vendor drawings, coordinate with other design disciplines, and manage scope change communications.
Field Support: Conduct on-site fieldwork to gather data, verify tie-ins, and assist with construction startup.
Quality Control: Check calculations of peer engineers for code conformance and assist drafting teams with routine layouts.

Ideal BackgroundEducation: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university is required.
Registration: Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge and application of the current version of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Familiarity with specifications and installation details of construction bulk materials and equipment.
Ability to perform lighting level calculations.
Ability to size wire, conduit and overcurrent protection for both lighting and power applications.
Ability to perform voltage drop calculations.
Ability to route conduit and cable tray.
Ability to calculate tray and conduit fill.
Ability to determine motor control center loading.
Ability to create accurate electrical installation documents from the information found on vendor equipment drawings.
Ability to determine load center unit substation loading.
(Instrumentation) Ability to size control valves using appropriate software.
(Instrumentation) Ability to develop specifications and data sheets for instrumentation, analyzers, control systems and actuated valves.
(Instrumentation) Familiarity with standards that apply to instrumentation and controls (ISA).
Ability to develop equipment specifications for equipment such as motor control centers, variable frequency drivers, induction and synchronous motors, load center unit substations.
Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all electrical deliverables.
Ability to develop a construction cost estimate, a detailed engineering schedule and a man-hour budget for a small project or an area for a larger project.
Ability to determine construction material quantities.
Knowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.
Working knowledge of CAD software, either AutoCAD, Microstation or both.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Good presentation skills.
Virtual team skills and cross divisional relationships are developed and able to provide interoffice execution support with general supervision.

- Professional Engineering (PE) registration
