Role Definition
For Caterpillar, Connectivity means using technology to extract data from our machines and engines and transform it into valuable recommendations and insights to help customers make better, more informed decisions and help Caterpillar make robust products with the lowest total ownership cost. Our products generate and process large amounts of data from sensors, on-board models, and control algorithms in real-time, creating real-world machine usage information to provide condition monitoring and fleet management services.
Responsibilities
- Support the enterprise data strategy and data governance as a subject matter expert for the Telematics domain data
- Guide business partners and technical partners to understand and execute the data collection strategy
- Collaborate with component teams, product groups and stakeholders to define data collection requirements
- Support and guide asset config creation
- Support and guide clients in data validation efforts
- Lead and support data quality investigations both onboard and offboard
- Support design of data collection system enablers
- Document system data architecture and design interfaces
Skill Descriptors
- Modeling: Data, Process, Events, Objects: Knowledge of data, process and events; ability to use tools and techniques for analyzing and documenting logical relationships among data, processes or events.
- Database Design (Physical): Knowledge of database systems; ability to establish a data model for designing an organization's database that runs effectively and efficiently for better business outcome.
- ETL Process: Knowledge of the extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) process; ability to develop a database through the ETL process.
- Information Management: Knowledge of an organization's existing and planned Information Architecture and Information Management (IM) methodology; ability to collect and manage information from different sources, and distribute this information to enhance operational efficiency.
- Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Accredited bachelor's degree in engineering, data science, or related domain.
- 8+ plus years of job-related work experience with increasing levels of responsibility
- Knowledge and experience with connectivity/telematics data collection
- Experience developing and supporting data intensive systems
- Knowledge of data pipelines and platform architectures
- Experience managing projects and feature delivery
- Experience developing enterprise architecture data models.
- Experience designing and documenting data intensive systems
- Experience with Azure DevOps
- Experience with architecture frameworks (TOGAF, DODAF, etc.)
Additional Details:
- This position requires the candidate to work full-time at the Mossville, IL office.
- Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

Summary Pay Range:
$128,470.00 - $192,710.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
