Position Summary

The Data Governance Lead is instrumental in establishing and enforcing data governance policies and procedures across the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of data management principles, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. The Data Governance Lead will collaborate with data stewards, IT teams, and business stakeholders to ensure data integrity, security, and quality. This individual will drive the development and implementation of data governance frameworks that support the organization's strategic objectives and compliance mandates.

Compensation

This role is an exempt position with a targeted salary range of $124,139 to $181,553 annually.

Compensation at Guild is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to local and federal minimum wage requirements, education, level of experience, and applicant’s geographical location.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and security.
  • Collaborate with data stewards, IT teams, and business units to establish data governance frameworks and best practices.
  • Monitor and enforce data governance policies and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct data quality assessments and implement data cleansing processes to maintain high data quality standards.
  • Identify and address data-related issues, providing guidance and support to data stewards and business stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define domains and subdomains across the organization.
  • Work with the business to establish data owners and data stewards across the various domains and subdomains.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on data governance policies and best practices to employees and stakeholders.
  • Lead data governance committee meetings and working groups to drive data governance initiatives and priorities.
  • Maintain and update data governance documentation, including data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and data lineage.
  • Evaluate and recommend data governance tools and technologies to enhance data management capabilities.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on data governance activities, metrics, and compliance status to senior management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree directly related to the position or equivalent, required in Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Master's Degree directly related to the position or equivalent, preferred in Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum seven years experience in data governance, data management, or related roles.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of data management principles, data quality, data security, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with data governance tools and technologies, such as data catalogs, metadata management, and data lineage tools.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex data-related issues.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey data governance concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with a proven track record of driving data governance initiatives.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and manage multiple priorities.

Requirements

  • Work is primarily sedentary; mobility in an office setting.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
  • Regularly required to accurately perceive, distinguish and interpret information received visually and through audio; e.g., words, numbers and other data broadcasted aloud/viewed on a screen, as well as print and other media.
  • Office environment – moderate noise, no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Travel 5-10%
  • Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, and make timely decisions in the context of a workflow.
  • Work is primarily performed during the business week, Monday - Friday.
