In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex Navy logistics operations and data‑driven decision-making by working with large volumes of structured and unstructured operational data to build reliable data pipelines, conduct exploratory analysis, and deliver intuitive, executive-ready dashboards. A key component of the position involves hands-on data manipulation in modern cloud and enterprise data environments such as Databricks and ADVANA, transforming data into actionable insights using enterprise visualization platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct exploratory and statistical analysis against complex datasets to identify trends, operational bottlenecks, and supply chain efficiencies.

  • Translate complex military logistics and operational requirements into functional analytics products and actionable KPIs.

Data Engineering & Platform Integration:

  • Clean, wrangle, and organize complex datasets using SQL and Python (or PySpark) to support downstream reporting and analytical models.

  • Build and streamline ETL/ELT pipelines and data models within Databricks and cloud data repositories.

  • Ingest, transform, and integrate multi-source DoD datasets across enterprise environments, specifically utilizing the War Data Platform (ADVANA).

  • Collaborate with data engineers and operational stakeholders to ensure data accuracy, pipeline reliability, and adherence to data governance standards.

Qualifications:
Required:

  • Clearance: Current and active DoD Secret Clearance.

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Operations Research, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related technical field.

  • Minimum Experience:  In addition to the education requirements above, must have a minimum of five years of professional experience and be proficient with one or more programming languages (Java, C++, Python, R, etc.).

  • Education Equivalency: As a substitute, ten years of industry experience in data science.  Education equivalency experience is in addition to the minimum experience of the labor category.

  • Enterprise BI & Visualization: Demonstrated hands-on experience building production dashboards and semantic models in Power BI (including DAX and Power Query) and Qlik (Qlik Sense).

  • Modern Data Platforms: Hands-on experience working in Databricks (PySpark/Spark SQL) and managing data workflows in cloud/enterprise data environments.

  • DoD War Data Platforms: Direct, proven experience utilizing the DoD War Data Platform (ADVANA) for data extraction, querying, and integration.

  • Database & Querying Skills: Advanced SQL skills for writing complex joins, data aggregation, and query performance tuning.

  • Programming: Proficiency in Python or R for data wrangling, automation, and statistical analysis.

Desired:

  • Advanced Platforms: Experience with Maven Smart System or Palantir Foundry (including Slates, Workshop, and Ontology workflows).

  • Domain Experience: Prior experience supporting Navy logistics, fleet readiness, or familiarity with Navy Automated Information Systems (e.g., DRRS, ERP, SABRS, or GCSS).

  • Data Architecture: Familiarity with modern data modeling (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, Kimball methodology) or Medallion Architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold layers).

  • Certifications: CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Databricks Certified Associate, or AWS/Azure Cloud certifications
