Role Overview

Beehive Industries is seeking a Lead Compliance Specialist to manage day-to-day trade compliance activities across the company. This role will help ensure that Beehive’s products, software, technology, technical data, transactions, and business relationships are handled in accordance with applicable U.S. export control and economic sanctions requirements.

The Corporate Trade Compliance Lead will serve as a practical advisor to Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Business Development, Information Technology, Security, and other functions. The successful candidate will combine hands-on export compliance experience with the judgment and communication skills needed to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, workable business guidance.

This role will initially focus on trade compliance and will have the opportunity to expand into broader corporate compliance activities, including risk assessments, policy management, investigations, training, third-party due diligence, and compliance monitoring.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct export-control and sanctions reviews involving customers, end users, end uses, destinations, suppliers, products, software, technology, and technical data.
  • Coordinate and document jurisdiction and classification determinations, including U.S. Munitions List categories, Export Control Classification Numbers, and related classification records.
  • Prepare export license applications and other authorization requests, and support the administration of approved licenses, agreements, exceptions, exemptions, provisos, and reporting requirements.
  • Manage restricted-party screening and transaction-review processes, investigate potential matches, and escalate higher-risk matters appropriately.
  • Advise Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Business Development, Information Technology, Human Resources, Security, and other teams on routine trade compliance requirements.
  • Support controls governing access to and the transfer of export-controlled hardware, software, technology, and technical data, including considerations involving foreign persons.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records, classification inventories, authorization files, policies, procedures, work instructions, and guidance materials.
  • Monitor relevant changes to the ITAR, EAR, OFAC sanctions programs, and other applicable requirements; assess their potential business impact and recommend responsive actions.
  • Develop and deliver role-based trade compliance training and communications for employees, contractors, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Support compliance monitoring, internal reviews, investigations, corrective actions, risk assessments, and other initiatives designed to strengthen Beehive’s broader compliance program.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in export controls, trade compliance, economic sanctions, or a closely related compliance field.
  • Practical experience applying one or more of the following regulatory frameworks: International Traffic in Arms Regulations, Export Administration Regulations, or OFAC-administered sanctions programs.
  • Experience conducting restricted-party screening, transaction reviews, export classification, export documentation, and export authorization activities.
  • Experience in the aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing industries.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Government contracts or programs.
  • Experience with both ITAR- and EAR-controlled products, software, technology, or technical data.
  • Experience preparing and administering export licenses, agreements, exemptions, exceptions, or other authorizations.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to research and interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical business guidance.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound judgment, including the ability to recognize potential compliance concerns and escalate matters appropriately.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical compliance requirements to non-specialists.
  • Demonstrated discretion when handling confidential, proprietary, or otherwise sensitive information.
  • Ability to independently manage assigned responsibilities while working collaboratively across technical and business functions.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate, audit-ready records.
