Job Summary

Directs complex accounting activities, including month-end close and financial reporting, to ensure accuracy and integrity. Mentors and develops accounting personnel to foster a high-performing team environment. Drives the implementation of new accounting standards and process improvements to support departmental and strategic initiatives.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Leads month-end and year-end closing processes by performing complex reconciliations and insightful variance analysis.
  • Oversees the work of senior and staff accountants, providing guidance and ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Drives the implementation of new accounting standards and spearheads departmental process improvements.
  • Acts as a primary point of contact for external auditors and manages the preparation of audit deliverables.
  • Mentors and develops accounting staff through targeted coaching and ongoing professional guidance.
  • Manages high-impact special projects, including system implementations and merger and acquisition accounting.
  • Supports the Accounting Manager with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning initiatives.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 8+ years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 5+ years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.
