Position Summary: The Account Executive is responsible for the ongoing management of a benefits book of business. In this role, you will work closely with clients, carriers, vendors, Producers, and other internal support staff to deliver and manage each client’s group benefits package. This includes ongoing service, marketing, renewals, compliance, and strategic planning.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the oversight and management of assigned clients of various sizes, funding methods and plan designs with minimal input from Producers
- Manage client renewals, marketing, and carrier negotiations
- Foster deep client relationships to support client retention
- Create presentations, organize, and lead/co-lead client meetings, including renewal, open enrollment, strategic planning, etc.
- Work with Producers on prospective client initiatives and new client implementation
- Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities to drive revenue growth
- Communicate effectively with Producers, clients, and other key stakeholders
- Educate clients on compliance obligations and facilitate broker compliance tasks while indemnifying company risk
- Stay informed on industry regulations and compliance requirements
- Serve as industry expert to clients, taking personal responsibility for understanding all facets of Employee Benefits while proactively staying abreast of industry trends, compliance changes, state-specific requirements, etc.
- Work closely with clients to ensure ERISA compliance responsibilities are met timely and with accuracy
- Develop strategies to support client goals
- Regularly communicate with clients to assess satisfaction, discuss program enhancements, and provide updates on industry trends
- Leveraging internal and external resources, act as the technical expert for issue resolution, compliance questions and general support
- Complies with agency management data standards and timing requirements
- Acknowledge and respond to all client requests timely and professionally
- Develop and maintain excellent carrier and vendor relationships
- As assigned, work with Account Manager to delegate tasks, teach new concepts, and provide quality oversight
- Performs other tasks on projects as needed/assigned to support the overall development and advancement of the Employee Benefits team
Minimum Qualifications:
- 6+ plus years of relevant employee benefits experience with a minimum of 4 years broker experience supporting clients with 100-1,000 employees
- Demonstrated mastery of group benefits (medical, dental, vision, ancillary) and ERISA compliance
- Active CA Accident Life & Health License required
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, in-person and virtual
- Proficient in MS Office and data management software; benefits administration software highly desired
- Strong attention to detail with exceptional level of accuracy, pride of work ownership, ability to work independently and with a team
- Demonstrates high level of professionalism and business acumen in all written and verbal communications
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment leveraging strong planning, organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to travel for client and prospect meetings as needed, up to 40% during Q4
- This is a remote position that requires a reliable internet connection and a distraction free working environment
