The Lactation Program Coordinator supports Neighborhood Family Practice’s Lactation Program by scheduling lactation visits, completing documentation, and other administrative tasks. The Lactation Coordinator ensures that data is tracked, logged, and in compliance with grant requirements.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following description is a general representation of the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.

  • Assist in administration of Breastfeeding Support program, including by scheduling Breastfeeding Basics classes and groups.
  • Provides direct lactation care, education, and instruction to breastfeeding patients and their infants.
  • Provide enabling services to patients including needs assessment, referral to resources, addressing barriers to care, and other tasks as needed.
  • Assist with outreach and follow up for lactation support. Monitor reports related to breastfeeding rates, lactation visit productivity, and other required metrics.
  • Support Lactation Consultants, Midwives, and other clinical providers in promotion of Lactation Program internally and with external community partners, including during annual World Breastfeeding Week.
  • Assist with tracking, entering, and maintaining compliance with grant requirements to support the program.
  • Collaborate with external agencies to obtain breast pumps as needed and assist in ordering necessary supplies as requested.
  • Support Centering and Midwifery programing. Serve as backup to Centering Coordinator to assist with continuity of care.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and education an individual must possess to be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities successfully. Education, Licensure, Experience:

  • Active and Unrestricted License as Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in State of Ohio required.
  • 2+ years experience required in relevant role, with lactation experience strongly preferred.
  • Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC/IBCLC) required within first 6 months of employment.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong organizational skills. Able to effectively navigate multiple priorities with efficiency and high degree of accuracy.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, EPIC EMR/EHR, and other related applications.
  • Fluency in language other than English strongly preferred, with Spanish as a priority language.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Able to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, patients, and the public, including those from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

 

Essential Physical Demands and Working Environment:


  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including through the use of electronic communication devices.
  • Able to sit, stand, bend, stoop, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50lbs.

Skills Required

  • Active and Unrestricted License as Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in State of Ohio
  • 2+ years experience in relevant role, lactation experience preferred
  • Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC/IBCLC) required within first 6 months of employment
