Full‑time | International Environment | Hands‑On Role
Avantor is currently looking for a motivated and hands‑on Lab Support Associate to join our team in Leiden. If you’ve always wanted to work in an international environment, enjoy practical work , this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
No previous lab experience? No problem! Whether you’re coming from logistics, hospitality, retail, or another service‑oriented field, we welcome individuals with the right motivation, work ethic, and passion for science.
As a Lab Support Associate, you will play a key part in day‑to‑day laboratory operations. Your responsibilities will support the smooth functioning of the lab and help ensure a safe, organised, and well‑maintained working environment.
You will be responsible for tasks such as:
Maintaining lab equipment, including cleaning, emptying, and disinfecting freezers, incubators, and other instruments
Handling chemical and biomedical waste safely
Washing, handling, and delivering lab glassware
Placing and following up on orders for laboratory supplies
Receiving, registering, checking, and labeling incoming goods
Ensuring all materials are stocked and stored in the correct location
Packing goods and preparing shipments
You will be part of a friendly, supportive group of 5–10 colleagues within Avantor’s Lab & Production Services department, which supports global pharmaceutical and life‑science partners in their daily laboratory operations.
Experience:
Experience in a hands‑on or service‑focused job (lab experience not required)
Experience in a GMP environment is a plus
Preferred Qualifications:
Basic MS Office skills (Outlook & Teams)
Strong communication in English (Dutch is a plus)
Organised, detail‑oriented, and able to work in a structured way
Hands‑on mentality and customer‑focused attitude
Outgoing, reliable, and motivated to learn
Occasional weekend work (approximately one weekend every two months)
Compensatory days off provided during the week
Weekend shifts include a shift allowance
One‑year contract, with the intention to offer a permanent position after a positive evaluation
