We're hiring a Laboratory Manager to lead the daily operations of our Dermatopathology Lab at Academic Alliance in Dermatology.


This leader will oversee laboratory operations, supervise a team of laboratory professionals, support quality and regulatory compliance, and foster a collaborative, patient-focused culture. Working closely with our dermatopathologist and regional leadership, this individual will help ensure efficient workflows, high-quality pathology services, and exceptional support for both providers and patients.

Responsibilities

The Laboratory Manager is responsible for the daily operation of the dermatopathology laboratory, ensuring efficient workflow, regulatory compliance, quality standards, and a positive team environment. This individual will supervise laboratory personnel, partner closely with physicians and regional leadership, and support continuous process improvement while maintaining exceptional service for providers and patients.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the dermatopathology laboratory.
  • Supervise, coach, and support laboratory personnel while fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Build strong working relationships with laboratory staff, physicians, and cross-functional partners.
  • Monitor laboratory workflow and implement process improvements to support efficiency and quality.
  • Partner with the organization's Compliance and Quality teams to maintain CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Provide hands-on operational support to the histology laboratory as needed, including assisting with bench responsibilities during periods of high volume or staffing shortages.
  • Support laboratory quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, and resource planning.
  • Partners with physicians and regional leadership to address operational needs and improve laboratory performance.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and coordinate vendor relationships as needed.
  • Assist with laboratory operations during periods of staffing shortages when appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and lead teams through change.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory operations and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
Licensure/Certifications/EducationEducation and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Healthcare Administration, or a related scientific or healthcare field preferred.
  • Two or more years of leadership or supervisory experience in a pathology, histology, dermatopathology, or clinical laboratory environment.
  • Experience supervising laboratory personnel.
  • Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) certification, issued by the ASCP Board of Certification.
  • Familiarity with CLIA and laboratory regulatory requirements.
  • Histology or pathology laboratory experience required.
