Laboratory Engineer - Fiber Optics

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Experience in fiber optics and telecom with hand on working knowledge of various test and measurement equipment including Optical Time Domain Reflectometers, Insertion Loss and Back Reflection meters, optical spectrum analyzer and end-face inspection systems etc.
• Follows complex defined test plans and datasheets with necessary supervision /support.
• Sound knowledge of different types of single mode and Multimode systems, cables, components and modules used in telecom is essential.
• Understands the standards like IEC-60794-1-xx, IEC-60793-1-xx, GR-20 and product technology for scope of responsibility.
• Prepare and verify the optical test setups as per the standard operating procedures.
• Evaluates test performance and sample operation to properly evaluate test results.
• Records and explains test results and completes test report.
• Holds responsibility for defining test plan, report completion and accuracy, meeting of agreed deadlines, and managing project related activities.
• Communicates with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation.
• Operates and maintains complex test equipment appropriately to measure and test customer samples.
• Performs complex maintenance on designated test equipment and laboratory area.
• May perform complex calibration of test equipment Integrates basic continuous improvement concepts and techniques for both process and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 8+ experience in related field.
• University Diploma or Degree in Engineering (in related field of work) or equivalent work experience.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high quality and exceptional customer service.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully partner with Engineering and other Laboratory Personnel to complete projects in a timely manner with high quality.
• Effective communication skills and ability to interact with customers.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office suite is a must Ability to incorporate automation into day-to-day testing.
