At ALS Food Testing, in Chatteris every sample tells a story and we’re here to make sure that story is one of safety, quality, and trust. Our high-throughput laboratories deliver reliable analytical results for clients across the food industry, helping protect consumers and support global brands.

The Position

  • Location: Chatteris

  • Hours Per Week: 40

  • Shift: Monday to Friday - 08:00 - 16:00

  • Contract: Full Time and Permanent

  • Annual Salary: £27,180

The Day-to-Day

  • Perform analytical testing and sample preparation following standard operating procedures.

  • Accurately record, interpret, and report test results within required timelines.

  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab equipment to ensure reliable results.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to manage high sample volumes efficiently and safely.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows.

  • Uphold quality, safety, and environmental standards across all activities.

The Essentials

  • A background in chemistry, biology, food science, or a related field (degree or equivalent experience).

  • Strong attention to detail and a systematic approach to tasks.

  • Comfort working with data, numbers, and analytical instruments.

  • Ability to focus and perform well under structured or routine processes.

  • Clear communication skills — written, verbal, or visual — whatever works best for you.

  • A team mindset with openness to different perspectives, needs, and working styles.
