The Position
The Opportunity
The Senior Software Engineer is a member of a team of 5+ engineers and will apply his/her expert knowledge of Java, Spring, Hibernate and AWS to support complex, enterprise-scale software systems. General responsibilities include responding to field issues with root cause analysis, provide workarounds, implementation of bug fixes in future release, unit testing for components or features and integration with external partner APIs. Support our algorithm partners to integrate their AI/ML based algorithms with our digital pathology platform.
Works as individual contributor or in a small team on specific product features with occasional guidance and in coordination with other teammates. Participate in peer code review session and enforce quality of deliverables.
Job Facts
- Software Development: This is a hands-on software development position to write high-quality software that will perform at scale, be supportable, and be extensible.
- Root Cause Analysis: This is a L3 support position so person should have excellent debugging and analytical skills to find out root cause of issues reported by customers.
- Process & Operations: Ensure the software deliverables follow existing process guidelines and conform to all existing quality parameters. Follow scaled agile framework guideline for incremental development.
- Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior team members in technical challenges and provide guidance on best practices and quality attributes.
- Technology stack: Most of the backend stack is in Java based (Spring Boot) micro services but we constantly explore different technologies and toolsets that are fit-for-purpose. Here is a list of technologies we currently use:
- Core Java, Spring Boot, Spring, Hibernate/JPA
- Unit testing using Junit and Mockito.
- Protobuf, JSON, XML, YAML
- Git, TortoiseGit
- AWS (must be aware about basics of EC2, ECS, ECR, Lambda, Elastic Cache, Route53, CloudFront, API Gateway, S3, Glacier, RDS, NLB/ALB, Security Groups/NACLs/VPCs, Cloud Watch)
- Docker & Kubernetes (Good to have)
- Experience In REST API integration
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Work on L3 issues reported by customer to find out root cause.
- Customer reported bug fixes in Java and related frameworks.
- Work with algorithm partners to integrate their algorithm on platform.
- Integrate product with external partner APIs.
- Talk to field affiliates and partner affiliates to resolve their issues.
- Work on bug fixes during test cycles.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholder
- Review code written by fellow junior developers.
- Involve in agile ceremonies like stand-up, sprint planning, and demos with co-workers
Who You Are
- BS/B Tech/MS degree in Computer Science or directly related discipline
- 4-8+ years of hands-on industry experience as a java developer, preferably in support.
- Believe in the achieving higher technical excellence and customer satisfaction everyday
- Experience and solid understanding of Core java, Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, Rest services & APIs.
- Experience in cloud development prominently using AWS.
- Hands-on software development experience in Java, Spring, Hibernate, Spring Boot
- Quick learner with the ability to understand complex workflows and develop and validate innovative solutions to solve difficult problems
- Experience in healthcare is not required, but familiarity with healthcare data and workflows is a plus (e.g. HL7, IHE)
- Knowledge and experience with the Agile development process or SAFe is big plus.
