Graduate Analyst

The Graduate Analyst track provides you with a holistic experience of central banking work. You will be rotated across the Bank's three sectors over 18 months, allowing you to discover the possible range of career paths with us:

Monetary Stability

  • The work in this Sector aims to ensure that the Bank’s monetary policy preserves stability in the general level of prices of goods and services, taking into consideration broader economic developments. Key focus areas include economic surveillance and research, monetary operations, as well as financial and foreign exchange markets.
  • We also undertake policy advisory efforts and international engagements, addressing both immediate-term and structural issues that affect the Malaysian economy. The sector also has operational responsibilities over critical databases that support the Bank’s decision-making.
  • The teams in this Sector have an array of responsibilities – ranging from strategy, surveillance, research, policy advisory, treasury operations, negotiations to data management and analytics. As a Graduate Analyst, you will have the opportunity to play a vital role in at least one of these teams.

Financial Stability

  • The work in this Sector contributes to a range of objectives. These include detecting emerging vulnerabilities in the financial system, supervising financial institutions, safeguarding the interests of financial consumers, combating money laundering and terrorism financing, as well as designing regulatory reforms for a safer and stronger future.
  • Alongside this, we also aim to foster the right environment for a progressive, vibrant and sustainable financial sector. We deal with frontier issues that shape the financial sector, such as digitalisation, financial inclusion, Islamic finance and climate change.
  • Reflecting the breadth of the work, various teams in the Bank support these outcomes. Each has a distinct role – whether in strategy, policy, supervision, enforcement, analytics, operations, or external engagements. As a Graduate Analyst, you will have the opportunity to play a vital role in at least one of these teams.

Corporate Management

  • We believe strongly in organisational development, aiming to ensure that our people perform at the highest level. Areas of focus include talent management, as well as learning and development.
  • The Bank’s internal operations are also crucial, anchored on ensuring the smooth running of the organisation’s day-to-day activities. These include currency management, legal advisory, risk management and finance.
  • As a Graduate Analyst, you will have the opportunity to be involved in at least one of these teams. Your time in the Corporate Management Sector will ensure that you obtain an end-to-end experience of central banking – enabling you to appreciate not only what the Bank does, but also gain a holistic picture of what it takes to help the entire organisation succeed.
