CLASSIFICATION:  PART TIME, NON-EXEMPT

SUPERVISOR:   K.E.E.P. SUPERVISOR AND ASSITANT K.E.E.P. SUPERVISOR

HOURS:  AM COORDINATOR 6:15AM – 8:15AM MONDAY – FRIDAY
               PM COORDINATOR 2:00PM – 6:00PM  MONDAY- FRIDAY

EMPLOYMENT GRADE:  3

PAY RANGE:  $18.00 - $20.00 PER HOUR

*Individual does not need to fill both roles.  Applicants may apply for one or both positions.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The position of the AM/PM Extended Time site coordinator is a part time position only August – June.  The position follows the District 220 Calendar.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Plan, supervise and implement the daily program activities in accordance with the policies
                  and philosophies of the before/after school program. 
  • Must have reliable transportation to commute between the Park District office and K.E.E.P.              
                  site with up to date insurance based on Illinois state mandates. 
  • Responsible for picking up notes, snacks and supplies requested from the office on a daily. 
  • Arrive at respective school site with enough time to have room set up and programming
                  ready for the children when they arrive. 
  • Attend monthly Site Supervisor meetings with Recreation Managers. 
  • Responsible for leading monthly staff meetings or trainings to prepare the calendar for the
                  upcoming month and training or addressing issues as needed. 
  • Establish a positive liaison with parents, school personnel and community. 
  • Maintain student and staff attendance records by following procedures when children or
                  staff are absent. 
  • Responsible for making sure every child is signed out per procedures listed in staff            
                  handbook. 
  • Manages payroll (time sheets and time clock) and turns into the office on time. 
  • Distributes information provided by the office in a timely manner. Responsible for handing
                  such paperwork and payments into the office daily. 
  • Report all problems and concerns to the K.E.E.P. Office. 
  • Follow all procedures for accident and incident reports, handing them into the office within
                  24hours of such accident or incident. 
  • Responsible for assigning support staff to activities following preferred ratios. 
  • Responsible for communicating with parents positive behavior, discipline problems or
                  accident reports. 
  • Responsible for the safety of the site location, children and staff. 
  • Treat each child with respect 

a. Work with children in compliance of THE AMERICAN DISABILITIES ACT. 

b. Will report to the K.E.E.P. Office any child, through disruptive behavior or special needs,
                   you feel requires a one-on-one aide. 

  • Be flexible and resourceful to the program. 
  • Be responsible for the cleanliness of the site location. 
  • Any other duties deemed necessary by the K.E.E.P. Program Manager. 
  • Shall work any “day off” as assigned by program Managers. However, understands that
                  employment is not guaranteed.

SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT:

  • Uphold safety and risk management strategies in support of and compliance with Park District policies, procedures, ordinances and practices
  • Familiarity with and effective implementation of the Employee Safety Manual, Emergency Response Plan, and Crisis Management Plan 
  • Attend professional educational and safety trainings
  • Assist with emergency procedures and building evaluation
  • Utilize Personal Protective Equipment when performing duties, based on job tasks
  • Correct unsafe conditions and/or report them to supervisor 
  • Promptly report hazardous conditions, accidents and injuries to supervisor
  • Complete incident/accident report forms and promptly forwards them to supervisor

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regularly required to talk, hear or read
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds; and over 30 pounds with assistance
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Employee performs most activities indoors.  Indoor environmental conditions will include lighting and temperature
  • Employee may perform some activities outside in various weather conditions

  • Must be able to respond to and handle children's behaviors in a positive appropriate manner
  • Employee must have the ability to follow directions
  • Employee must have good verbal and written communications skills
  • Employee must possess time management and organization skills to effectively perform the job

  • Employee must use good safety awareness and judgment in all aspects of the position

Qualifications

 EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • High School Diploma is preferred 
  • Thorough knowledge of the specific activity preferred 
  • Ability to teach in any given class situation 
  • Must possess current First Aid, CPR and AED Certification  (Will train)
  • DCFS Mandated Reporter Training (Will Train)
  • Red Cross Epi Pen Training (Will train)
