Powering the agentic revolution in travel. Sabre is an AI-native technology leader, backed by one of the world’s largest travel data clouds. Built on an open, modular, cloud-native architecture, Sabre serves as the backbone for both established leaders and bold, new disruptors, guiding them to the next age of travel retailing through intelligent, connected, and personalized experiences. With AI at its core and operating at unparalleled scale, Sabre transforms insights into innovation, empowering airlines, hoteliers, agencies and other partners to retail, distribute and fulfill travel worldwide.
Core Platform is the team that keeps Sabre's engineering machine running. We build and operate the foundational tools that thousands of developers across the company rely on every day — from the moment they scaffold a new service to the moment it goes live in production:
We are a platform team — our customers are internal engineers, and our quality bar is set by how much friction we remove from their daily work.
The Role
As a Software Systems Engineer I on Core Platform, you will help build the tools that power Sabre’s software delivery lifecycle. You will write Java and Python code, enhance CI/CD workflows, evolve NGP Starters and code generators, and contribute to platform services running on GKE. This role is ideal for someone who values developer experience, is eager to learn new things, is ready to take on new challenges, works comfortably at the intersection of tooling and infrastructure, and wants to make an impact across hundreds of engineering teams.
What You'll Work On
Service templates & scaffolding — add new capabilities to the starter templates and code generators that new services are built from; help keep them aligned with the latest reliability and security standards
CI/CD pipeline automation — develop and maintain reusable pipeline workflows; build mechanisms that propagate updates to consumer repositories automatically
Internal platform services — contribute to backend features for service registration, dependency mapping, and deployment tracking
Deployment pipelines — help maintain and improve deployment automation used by teams across the organization
Cloud services & automation — develop and operate lightweight cloud utilities that power platform-level operations
Developer tooling — build scripts and automations that reduce repetitive work for engineers
AI-assisted platform features — contribute to developer productivity analytics and AI-powered code review infrastructure
What We're Looking For
Required
Solid fundamentals in at least one object-oriented language (Java with Spring is preferred, but we care more about how you think than which language you know)
Understanding of version control and collaborative development — branching, pull requests, code review
Familiarity with CI/CD concepts — what automated build and deployment pipelines do and why they matter
Curiosity and willingness to learn — platform engineering spans many areas; we will teach you the specifics of our stack
Problem-solving mindset: when something breaks, you want to understand why
Nice to Have
Experience with GitHub Actions or another CI/CD platform — reading or writing pipeline configuration
Go or JavaScript experience (both appear in our tooling)
Exposure to containerization or cloud-based deployments (Docker, Kubernetes, GCP, AWS)
Any experience with infrastructure-as-code or build tooling
Interest in developer productivity metrics or platform engineering as a discipline
Awareness of AI-assisted development tools
What We Offer
Multiplier impact — a single improvement to our shared templates or pipelines reaches hundreds of teams and thousands of developers simultaneously
Deep engineering craft — you will learn how a large-scale software delivery platform actually works: from service scaffolding through CI/CD to production deployment
Modern, evolving stack — backend services, cloud infrastructure, AI tooling; grounded in enterprise reliability with room to grow into new technologies
Mentorship — you will work with experienced platform engineers who have built and operated these systems at scale
Cross-team visibility — Core Platform collaborates with every engineering team at Sabre; you will quickly build a broad understanding of the entire technology estate
