We are looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join our Media Cloud Engineering teams to further enhance the Vonage Video Platform, our WebRTC- Communications PaaS, with improved media communications, VoIP, quality and reliability optimization, and beyond.
As a Junior Software Engineer, you’ll contribute to building new features and improving our systems with a focus on quality and reliability. You’ll have the opportunity to learn by working on real-world projects, gaining hands-on experience with tools and data to help guide development decisions. We're looking for someone who’s motivated to grow their skills and excited to see their work in action in large-scale production environments. You'll be supported by a team of experienced engineers who are passionate about real-time communications, media, and cloud infrastructure.
Required Skills:
- JavaScript, and experience with HTML5 APIs all across different browser engine APIs in general.
- C/C++ coding skills, and a willingness to learn other languages.
- A familiarity / an interest with Media Communications software technology. For example, codecs, WebRTC, streaming, VoIP, SIP, media protocols, QoS/QoE, media processing, and related industry open-source software.
- Experience working on backend and/or frontend software engineering.
- Excellent debugging and problem solving skills.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and platforms.
- Good understanding of algorithms, data structures, memory management, and concurrency.
Experience in any of the following areas would be beneficial, though not mandatory:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications or equivalent.
- Cloud technologies such as AWS, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker.
- CI/CD in Jenkins or similar tools.
- Familiarity with some of WebAssembly, WebGL, and/or WebGPU.
- Familiarity in API design and/or SDK development.
