Working alongside an existing team of Safeguarding specialists and reporting to the Global Safeguarding Accountable Owner, your role is to assist each of the existing controllers and product managers in ensuring the APAC safeguarding control framework runs smoothly. The role will span across both safeguarding for payments and e-money and investment business and offers a fantastic opportunity to learn about the handovers between the regimes. You will also be joining at an exciting time of product growth and expansion..

Your Mission

  • You will play a crucial role in ensuring that new product launches are compliant with safeguarding regulations and controlled in a proportionate manner
  • You will be responsible for ensuring completeness of our policies and procedures and coordinate with individual controllers to obtain attestations of the controls operation and alignment to the controls framework
  • You will be responsible for coordinating and implementing a first line of defence assurance for APAC safeguarding controls
  • You will be responsible for maintaining the APAC safeguarding risk and controls matrix for the APAC entities
  • You will be the first point of escalation of discrepancies identified by the Reconciliations team for safeguarding reconciliations and provide SME advise on their resolution and treatment
  • You will be involved in the incidents management process and link incidents to control failures, which will enable senior management to see themes within the control environment
  • You will be responsible for MAS regulatory reporting and other safeguarding regulatory reporting preparation
  • You will be responsible for the annual safeguarding audit coordination
  • You will help document, challenge and build an end-to-end view of our internal control environment to illustrate key risks, controls and processes. This will all be done within our internal risk management software

Qualifications

A bit about you:

  • Theory - You are keen to learn more about Fintechs and the inner workings of an organisation dealing with high volume transactions.
  • Technical knowledge - You have a good level of understanding of safeguarding in APAC (Singapore preferred) across investment business and payments  and would like to expand this through hands-on experience
  • Practice - You have sound writing skills and ability to convey regulation in a clear manner to fellow colleagues who are not SMEs and communicate key risks related to these regulations
  • Love getting things done - You are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and take responsibility to do whatever needs doing to solve problems. You take a proactive approach in resolving complex issues. We get it done!
  • Commercial acumen - You understand the value of taking a balanced approach to risk and controls to support the growth of the business.
  • Collaborative - You work well in a multinational team environment and know how to have an impact through others. No Drama Good Karma!
  • Development - You are keen to learn and develop your knowledge of how a FinTech and fast growing scale-up operates. 
  • Our Safeguarding team is spread across the globe, but mainly in London and Tallinn, so there are some video calls and some travel involved for treasury wide initiatives.

Skills Required

  • Good understanding of APAC safeguarding regulations (Singapore preferred)
  • Experience with safeguarding across payment, e-money and investment regimes
  • Ability to prepare MAS and other safeguarding regulatory reporting
  • Sound writing skills and ability to explain regulation clearly to non-SMEs
  • Experience or aptitude for maintaining risk and controls matrices and first-line assurance
  • Experience liaising with reconciliations teams and resolving safeguarding discrepancies
  • Ability to coordinate annual audits and act as point of contact for audit activities
  • Proactive problem solving, commercial acumen and ability to work collaboratively in multinational teams
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and join video calls across time zones
