We're looking for a curious and detail-oriented Junior Product Owner who is eager to grow in the fintech space. If you have some experience working with financial products or banking systems and want to own a real product from day one with mentorship and a team that will help you level up this role is for you.

About the Role

As Associate Product Owner for Core Banking at Blossom, you will support the roadmap and delivery of our core banking migration product a modern Node.js platform replacing a legacy Java system used by Credit Unions across the U.S. You'll work closely with engineers, QA, and U.S.-based business stakeholders to help translate banking workflows into clear, actionable user stories.

You don't need to know everything about core banking from day one but you do need to be analytical, curious about how financial systems work, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

What You'll Do

  • Support the product backlog and roadmap for core banking modules, helping prioritize features based on business value and client impact.
  • Learn and document core banking workflows (reconciliation, posting, reversals, card processing) and translate them into user stories with guidance from subject matter experts.
  • Participate daily in standups, sprint planning, and backlog refinement with developers, QA, and the Scrum Master.
  • Work alongside experienced team members on the original core banking system to understand functional requirements during migration.
  • Help coordinate rollout readiness across deployment environments (dev, QA, beta, production).
  • Identify gaps and edge cases in financial transaction flows, escalating decisions when needed.
  • Use AI tools to speed up documentation, analysis, and requirement drafting.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in roles related to financial products, banking operations, fintech, or business analysis in a financial institution.
  • Basic familiarity with banking or fintech concepts you don't need to be an expert, but terms like transactions, accounts, or payments shouldn't be foreign to you.
  • Exposure to Agile environments (Scrum); you've participated in sprints, standups, or backlog work in some capacity.
  • B2 English level minimum you'll communicate regularly with the U.S. team in writing and on video calls.
  • Analytical mindset and strong attention to detail.
  • Educational background in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Systems Engineering, or a related field.

Nice to Have

  • Experience writing user stories or acceptance criteria.
  • Exposure to digital banking platforms, payment processing, or lending products.
  • Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
  • Any exposure to core banking concepts: reconciliation, posting, reversals, account management.
  • Experience working with or studying Credit Unions or community financial institutions.

What You'll Find Here

  • A senior team that will mentor you on core banking and product ownership best practices.
  • Real ownership from day one — your work ships to production and affects real Credit Union members.
  • A cross-functional team distributed between Colombia and the U.S.
  • An AI-forward culture that actively encourages using tools to work smarter, not harder.
  • Direct access to stakeholders and fast career growth in one of the most complex domains in fintech.

Perks

  • 100% Remote Work
  • Mentorship from experienced product and banking professionals
  • Multicultural collaboration with teams in Colombia and the U.S.
  • Real exposure to the American financial market
  • Growth path into senior product or leadership roles as the product scales
