Our Finance MOOsters are responsible for recording & forecasting financial information, cashflow management, paying the bills, recording revenue, ensuring all our MOOsters are paid, and the management of financial data to our Senior Leadership Team and Board to enable them to make effective decisions. We are currently a team of 14, and we work together to support all of our internal and external stakeholders.
We are currently seeking a Junior Management Accountant to join our team and contribute to the growth and development of the UK Finance function! Along with the implementation of new processes, procedures and internal control initiatives, you will receive hands-on experience and exposure to all aspects of the strategic accounting function, as well as the opportunity to develop your technical skill set as you support the BAU within the team.
This role will report to our UK Finance Manager, and will be supported and mentored by senior members of the team. You'll have excellent communication skills and the ability to work with internal stakeholders, and have an interest in being enrolled in a full accounting qualification to aid your professional development!
Responsibilities
- Ownership of the monthly close process to deliver timely and accurate financial reporting including the preparation & posting of accurate journal entries
- Perform & maintain accurate monthly balance sheet reconciliations ensuring all discrepancies are investigated and appropriately resolved
- Maintain accurate and organised financial records
- Ensure accounting policies and procedures are being consistently followed and adhered to
- Participate in system implementations and documentation of department processes
- Assist in year-end financial audits
- Assist in internal controls governance
- Prepare monthly and ad-hoc financial reporting for senior management
- Monitor assigned areas for process improvements
- Ownership of all tasks assigned relating to the finance function
About You
- A desire to pursue a career in accounting
- A basic understanding of Microsoft Excel with a desire to develop into an intermediate user
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail for financial data entry and reconciliation tasks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies and propose solutions
- Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational/time management skills and the ability to multi-task and meet assigned deadlines
- Self-directed with the ability to work with minimal supervision whilst also being very team oriented and contribute to a positive team environment
- Ability to quickly learn new systems, processes and procedures and adapt local practices to global standards
- Process driven and forward thinking
Nice to Haves
- A desire to pursue a professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA)
- Understanding of double-entry accounting
- Knowledge of NetSuite (or other accounting software)
- Experience with Google suite of applications
- Familiarity with financial statements
- Knowledge of UK/US GAAP & IFRS
