Shift4 is looking for a Legal Counsel to provide foundational legal support across the organization. This role is a blend of commercial contract management, regulatory research, and corporate governance. You will act as a versatile legal partner, helping various departments (from HR to Product) navigate risks while ensuring the company’s commercial interests are protected.
Responsibilities will include:
- Prepare, review, and revise commercial agreements, NDAs, vendor contracts, partnership agreements, and other legal documents to protect company interests.
- Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents; provide concise summaries and recommendations.
- Assist with maintaining compliance programs, policies, and procedures, including monitoring changes in applicable laws and regulations.
- Support corporate filings, board resolutions, and maintenance of corporate records.
- Identify potential legal and regulatory risks and propose solutions to mitigate them.
- Partner with internal teams (HR, Finance, Operations, Marketing, Product) to provide legal guidance on projects and initiatives.
- Assist in managing disputes, claims, and litigation, including coordinating with outside counsel.
- Maintain organized, accurate, and up-to-date legal files and documentation.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- 2–3 years of experience in a legal role (in-house or at a law firm). Internship or clerkship experience will be considered.
- Familiarity with corporate law, contract law, employment law, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance.

Salary ranges are developed based on objective, gender-neutral criteria, such as internal job levels, scope of responsibilities, and external market data.
