JUNIOR ILLUSTRATOR, MOOMIN ARABIA
Created by the beloved artist and author, Tove Jansson, the Moomins have been enchanting people across the globe since the 1940s. Moomin Arabia products are about escaping our busy lives into the delightful world of the Moomins, even if it’s just for a short while.
OUR ROLE
Our goal at Moomin Arabia is to help lovers and collectors find and create Mooments of Magic to make the everyday extraordinary. And now, we’re hiring! We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Junior Illustrator to join our design team. This role is perfect for someone loves the world of illustration, design, and pop culture, with an interest in translating licensed characters into unique and visually striking products. You have a real passion for the world of Moomin, a genuine interest in existing and new fans and a focus on creating real value for them.
You’ll work closely with the design and portfolio teams, contributing to the creation of on-brand illustrations and digital assets while helping streamline team workflows and manage assets. In this position, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your creative skills, enhance your portfolio, and be part of a brand that blends joyful design with commercial product development. You’ll be exposed to a variety of illustration styles, from concept development to the final product, all while aligning with the latest social media trends, new category expansion and brand direction.
This full time role reports to our Head of Design, Moomin Arabia and will be based at our global HQ in Espoo, Finland.
WHAT YOU’LL DO AT MOOMIN ARABIA
Key responsibilities:

Illustration Support: Assist the design team by creating initial sketches, style guides, digital illustration files for production, mock ups, and patterns that bring licensed characters to life to product. You’ll work within brand guidelines to ensure designs are consistent, resonate with target audiences and are commercially viable

Concept Development: Combine your market awareness and creative insight to collaborate with the team, brainstorming and refining design ideas that align with pop culture trends

Asset Management: Organize, update, and maintain a digital library of design assets, ensuring all illustrations, logos, and files are easily accessible and well- documented

Administrative Tasks: Support the team in daily operations by preparing presentation files, design approvals with Moomin Characters, and helping with the coordination of project timelines to ensure smooth workflow

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside Offering and Portfolio teams to ensure design concepts are aligned with product development schedules, packaging needs, and marketing materials
WHO YOU ARE

Bachelor’s degree or relevant certification in Illustration, Graphic Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), with a working knowledge of other design software (e.g., Procreate) a plus

Demonstrated ability of fast execution of clean, professional illustrations and designs, with a keen eye for detail and consistency.

Strong understanding of design trends within consumer products. Experience with ceramics, textiles or glassware a plus but not required

Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment

An interest in leveraging design tools to accelerate design and enhance the creative process is also valued in this role
