We are hiring a GIS/Data Analyst to support the collection, processing, analysis, and visualization of geospatial data, contributing to location-based decision-making. This role will require working closely with multidisciplinary teams to support projects involving Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Role Responsibilities:
Support Geospatial Data Collection and Management: Assist in gathering spatial and non-spatial data from various sources including field surveys, public datasets, satellite imagery, and internal databases. Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness before integration into GIS platforms.
Data Collection and Analysis: Support the development and maintenance of datasets related to land and feedstock across Brazil. This includes mapping and characterizing areas for potential project deployment, cleaning and validating raw data from internal and external sources, structuring databases to enable analytical insights and support decision-making around feedstock supply and land suitability
Create and Maintain Maps and Visualizations: Design and update static and interactive maps using GIS tools (QGIS, or web-based platforms). Develop visually compelling and informative cartographic products tailored to different project needs or stakeholders.
Perform Basic Spatial Analysis: Conduct spatial operations such as buffering, clipping, overlay analysis, and proximity calculations. Analyze geographic patterns and spatial relationships to support project goals and decision-making processes.
Maintain Geodatabases and Spatial Layers: Assist in organizing and updating geodatabases, shapefiles, and raster layers. Ensure proper file structure, metadata documentation, and version control.
Automate Repetitive GIS Tasks: Use tools like Python scripting to streamline routine GIS processes such as data cleaning, map production, and spatial joins. Support the development of workflows that enhance efficiency and reduce manual workload.
Collaborate with Multidisciplinary Teams: Work closely with professionals in science, marketing or business analytics to understand GIS-related needs and provide technical input. Translate business or research questions into spatial analysis tasks.
Background and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geology, Agricultural Science, Soil Science, Environmental Sciences, or related fields.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in GIS software (QGIS, or web-based platforms).
Solid understanding of spatial data structures (vector and raster), coordinate systems, map projections, and metadata standards.
Experience with spatial analysis tools, including buffer, overlay, interpolation, network analysis, and spatial statistics.
Background in working on GIS projects in agricultural or geosciences sectors.
Preferred Skills:
Preferably a Master’s degree in Geosciences, Agricultural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or related fields, demonstrating hands-on experience with spatial analysis and elaboration of GIS maps and products.
Proven professional experience using GIS tools.
Proficiency in automation using Python (PyQGIS) or related tools is highly desirable.
Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI, or GIS Dashboards.
Personal Attributes:
You have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
You have strong attention to detail and a high level of data accuracy, combining analytical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
You’re passionate about agriculture, geosciences and climate action, balancing innovation with practicality.
You bring a positive, action-oriented mindset to high-impact work.
Please include a portfolio of past GIS work with your application. We're especially interested in projects that require strong spatial analysis, clear organization, and impactful visual presentation.
About Us-
Terradot is a science and technology company building gigaton-scale Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) with Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW). ERW has the potential to permanently remove billions of tons of CO2 while regenerating land. Terradot is building the optimization and verification technology to bring ERW to gigaton scale, starting in Brazil.
Founded out of the Stanford University ecosystem, Terradot is led by the world’s leading experts to advance the science and technology of ERW. Our unique structure bridges industry, academia, and government and allows our team to contribute with speed & scale. We are backed by world-class investors such as John Doerr, Kleiner Perkins, Floodgate, Sheryl Sandberg, George Roberts, Ponderosa Ventures, and Stanford’s TomKat Center for Sustainable Energy.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. Research suggests that qualified people from historically marginalized groups may self-select out of opportunities if they don't meet 100% of the job requirements. We encourage individuals who believe they have the skills necessary to thrive to apply for this role.

What We Do
Over millions of years, silicate rock weathering has regulated Earth’s climate. By crushing silicate rocks and spreading them on agricultural soils - an approach called Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) - we can accelerate Earth’s natural process into a solution capable of addressing the urgency of climate change. Existing agricultural and silicate rock sites - namely 5,000+ global silicate rock quarries surrounded by agricultural land - have the potential to remove billions of tonnes of CO2 with enhanced rock weathering. Despite this potential, ERW hasn’t scaled given the extraordinary scientific, technological, and operational challenges involved. Terradot, founded out of the Stanford ecosystem, is addressing these challenges by advancing the science, building the technology, and assembling the coalition needed to make this potential a reality. We’ve started in Brazil – one of the world’s most optimal locations for ERW thanks to its tropical soils, strength in agriculture, and clean electricity grid. There, we are building the most ambitious ERW hub to date. This hub will drive the necessary breakthroughs in ERW science, ensuring every tonne of carbon dioxide removed is measured and tracked with certainty. These insights will power digital tools for the optimization and verification of carbon removal projects, enabling the replicability of these hubs globally If successful, this approach will uniquely and rapidly catalyze global-scale carbon removal, enabling the transformation of [300] such quarries in Brazil and [5,000+] global quarries into carbon removal hubs. Terradot has assembled a growing team of leading scientists and engineers with decades of published research (over 100,000 citations on ERW) and hands-on expertise in related fields, providing unmatched experience to drive advancements in ERW.
