General Dynamics in St Leonards-on-Sea currently provide avionic mission computing systems for a wide range of military fast jets, helicopters, and UAV’s. Recent success has resulted in General Dynamics developing the next generation of Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet the needs of latest platforms in development by several aircraft manufacturers. These Mission Computing Systems provide the functionality that integrates aircraft systems, sensor systems and stores management systems with the information and control systems required by the aircrew to meet the demanding operational needs of these aircraft.

Job Description

We are recruiting Junior Electronics Engineers at graduate level to work on developing some of the most advanced electronic (Analogue and Digital) computing systems that are critical to providing these aircraft and aircrew with some of the most advanced combat mission computing capabilities.

This role is ideal if you wish to develop your knowledge and skills and apply them to mission management and control systems applicable to the avionics, maritime or naval domain.

Although the role identifies a Electronics Engineer, there will be opportunity to specialize into other specific engineering domains such as  firmware or remain within the electronics design domain.

Typical activities include:

  • Typical duties to include a mix of the below:
  • Producing initial and maturing to detailed electronic designs through the product development phases.
  • Generation of drawings, circuits and associated documents to capture electronics design aspects
  • Testing and integration to ensure the design meets its requirements
  • Modelling and simulation – Firmware, Electronics or System

Qualifications

To apply for these entry level Electronics Engineer roles, you will need degree-level education in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Engineering or similar.

Professional registration as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng, IET or equivalent) is desirable, but not essential. We actively support employees in attaining professional registration status.

Additional Information

This role has a salary of up to £33,000, depending on experience and qualifications plus our flexible benefits package.

We are open to this role being spent with time working from home and in the office (minimum 3 days in office) on a weekly basis or fully in our office in St Leonards-on-Sea.

Skills Required

  • Degree-level education in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Engineering or similar
  • Ability to obtain an appropriate UK security clearance
  • Right to work checks / eligibility to work in the UK
  • Willingness to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week (hybrid) or full-time in St Leonards-on-Sea
  • Experience or knowledge of analogue and digital electronic design
  • Experience or knowledge of testing and integration of electronic systems
  • Modelling and simulation skills (electronics, firmware or system modelling)
  • Professional registration as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng, IET or equivalent)
  • Opportunity to specialise in firmware development (firmware skills beneficial)
