Your Next Career Opportunity – Junior Database Administrator
The Junior Database Administrator supports the database engineering team in maintaining, monitoring, and optimizing database environments across the enterprise. The Junior Engineer will assist with daily operations, backups, troubleshooting, and basic performance tuning, while gaining exposure to cloud and on-premises platforms (primarily Microsoft SQL Server, with some Oracle and Postgres).
What You Will Do – Primary Responsibilities
Database Maintenance & Monitoring: Assist in daily monitoring of database health, performance, and availability across on-premises and cloud environments.
Backup & Recovery: Support routine database backup operations and participate in recovery drills under supervision.
Issue Tracking & Troubleshooting: Log and track database-related issues, escalating complex problems to senior team members.
Performance Tuning: Learn to identify and help resolve basic performance bottlenecks, such as slow-running queries.
Security & Compliance: Follow established security protocols and compliance requirements (SOX, segregation of duties, etc.).
Reporting & Analytics: Assist in generating routine reports and maintaining reporting environments (SSRS, Oracle BI).
Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Collaboration: Work closely with developers, senior DBAs, and IT support to resolve user issues and support business initiatives.
Continuous Learning: Participate in training sessions, webinars, and team meetings to build technical expertise.
Other Duties: Complete other tasks and projects as assigned by the Manager of Database Engineering.
What You’ll Need – Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or equivalent
Technical 0-2 years Managing and supporting SQL Server Certifications (preferred)
Microsoft Certified: SQL Server Database Fundamentals or Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals
