Duties and Responsibilities
Interpret the Blueprint (system architectures & selections) and use your previous experience to help drive the Team’s adoption and best-practice usage of our new data engineering platform, tools & techniques.
Own the core data engineering infrastructure and extract & load processes (data pipelines, orchestration, data lake, data warehouse).
Alongside the analytics engineer, jointly own the analytics engineering infrastructure and transformation processes (structured data modelling) including design & optimization of dimensional data marts.
Help to design data products & processes with the Data Team: design & iterate solutions, with particular focus on data engineering according to sound principles and make this data timely and available.
Work closely with the wider Tech team to develop integrated data products and optimize data infrastructure and processes: help to optimize the platforms and resource usage.
Work alongside vendors / system integrators in their delivery of data system capabilities.
Collaborate with the Security, Compliance, IT and Finance teams to ensure optimal data governance throughout IGI.
Job Specifications
Academic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in data engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or related programming & data-oriented discipline.
Experience Required: 1 – 3 years' experience using a modern data engineering stack, ideally including Python, SQL, Spark, SQL Server, dbt, Azure Synapse, general cloud IaaS / PaaS, Fair knowledge in MDM /data governance / data security is a plus, experience in insurance, financial services or broader fintech is a plus.

Demonstrable success delivering high-quality data engineering products and processes in established businesses: managing complexity, multiple dependencies and providing technical excellence.
Demonstrable deep understanding of the modern data stack and associated technologies and methodologies including pipelines, orchestration, governance of data lakes & data warehouse.
Demonstrable strong communication, analysis, and troubleshooting skills in an agile development process.
Demonstrable leadership of juniors and self-directed management of multiple tasks with limited supervision.
Demonstrable interest and enthusiasm to revolutionize this corner of the commercial & specialty insurance industry and make IGI a data leader.
