The Role

The Role:

M&G is a leader investor in Structured Credit, dedicated to providing excellent opportunities for its clients. This role is part of the Structured Credit Research team, which plays a pivotal role in the investment process by offering credit opinions, independent ratings and structuring capacity to the fund managers.

The role will be suitable for a confident individual with a positive drive and can-do attitude. The successful applicant will have strong desire to learn and an aspiration to want to progress. In this position, you will work in a dynamic and collegiate team environment to analyse and monitor both public and private structured finance opportunities. You will be exposed to a variety of structured finance sectors including both consumer and commercial securitisations and other property-related transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist senior team members on the analysis of structured credit investment opportunities and identify credit / investment risks
  • Analyse and interpret large datasets to assess the credit profile of collateral pools
  • Work with financial and cash flow models to stress test structures under various economic scenarios
  • Help prepare and present analysis and recommendations to committees
  • Maintain surveillance and monitoring for underlying investments for periodic reviews
  • Identify and follow market trends to conduct asset class research
  • Produce periodic reports (holdings, ratings, etc.)
  • Monitor corporate actions and execution  
  • Helping the team in setting up financial instruments to trade, projecting cashflows etc.
  • Help answer queries on data and outputs 
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to present views
  • Support the team in wider projects such as ESG and monitoring / regulatory reviews.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Understanding of fixed income products, account principles and concepts
  • Team player with ability to build strong relationships
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
  • Reliable skills in Excel, VBA & PowerBi
  • Effective communicator - written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently with multiple stakeholders at once and act in a coordinating role
  • Highly organised to multi-task across a variety of sectors to tight deadlines
  • An inquisitive mind combined with excellent attention to detail
