Job Description

The Project Manager has the overall management responsibility for the
project from contract award up to execution of a close-out agreement with the
client. The PM has four major key functions:
● Support the proposal phase and assist on defining the project strategy,
risk assessment, cost estimates, schedule optimization and preparation
of the proposal.
● Lead and be the responsible for project execution since contract award
until project close-out and formal transfer to Customer optimizing all
project-related results by effective project and contract management
● Ensures respect of contractual obligations in terms of safety, quality,
performance and schedule and represent Air Liquide Global E&C
Solutions towards the Client, PMC, and Partner organizations.
● Organize and supervises the activities and works related with the
project execution, ensuring a clear, transparent and effective reporting
to his management.

The PM is an essential contributor of the overall project success and is
responsible to :
● Provide leadership, development and direction to a multi-disciplined and
multi-national EPC or EP project organization.

Plan, organize, and direct multi-office engineering disciplines,
procurement, project controls, construction management, and
subcontractors to deliver major EPC/CM projects from basic design
through detailed design, procurement, construction, startup and
commissioning, hand over, and contract close-out.
● Establish project teams, coordinate activities of multiple disciplines, and
ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.
● Develop project execution plans for project staffing, budgeting,
scheduling and establishing critical project objectives, applying
leadership skills to manage client and internal change.
● Manage (oversee) the production of engineering deliverables. The
oversight of engineering deliverables requires continuous evaluation
(percent complete analysis) of design discipline progress toward a
construction issue deliverable.
● Manage the procurement of engineered equipment, administration of
construction subcontracts, and overall safety, cost, schedule, and quality
of assigned projects.
● Comply with the safety and quality standards, laws and requirements
applicable for the project and apply the best practices to lead the project
to the successful achievement, ensuring adherence to company
policies, processes and procedures both local and global level.
● Identifying risks and opportunities early, ensuring effective mitigation of
risks, and cashing in on the opportunities
● Optimize project result (HSES, quality, profitability, liquidity, schedule
etc.)
● Administrates strict change management and negotiates changes with
the client.
● Capitalize the projects good and wrong practices, close the loop with
the proposal activities and promote the lessons learned process
● Reporte on the project on a regular clear and transparent basis to center
or Global E&C Solutions management as well as to the client

● Project close-out and systematic handover for execution during
warranty phase.
● Implement the defined GATE processes to enable smooth and error-free
passage of the different phases of the project.
● Manage man-hour consumption, quantities, cost, schedule and
achievement of milestones and deviations
● For the execution of the project, the PM shall demonstrate strong
commitment in Safety, technical expertise, strong management and
leadership capability.

Qualifications

● Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, or superior grades
● 5+ years experience in a plant engineering company as package
manager / project manager with large scale engineering project
coordination. Gas, and Hydrogen process knowledge would be
appreciated.
● Fluent in english, Japanese speaking would be an advantage.
● Good understanding of the engineering function, cost basis and
requirements within EPC projects

● Eager to work in a multicultural team, high level of mobility - willingness
to travel for a short term business trips to plants under construction
and operation worldwide and other engineering centers;
● Strong ability in technical matters with an emphasis on safe, compliant,
reliable, efficient and practical solutions
● High communication skills, acts in an open, transparent and consistent
manner, considering the interests and perspectives of others; behaves
within the norms of local, legal, social, and business environments
● Anticipates and takes initiative to overcome challenges and barriers;
reprioritizes as appropriate
● Maintains, develops and applies technical or specialist knowledge to
stay up-to-date with innovations and developments in the industry and
