Under the direction of the Director of Wellness, and under the guidance of the Associate Executive Director, the Associate Wellness Director will supervise the development and implementation of designated wellness programs of the YMCA. This position is primarily responsible for working with our staff, our members and program participants on the front line (approximately 80% time spent in frontline duties and 20% in coordination/ administrative duties). Also included is the daily supervision of Wellness staff to ensure proper training, consistent coverage of programs, and excellent member service.
Qualifications
This position requires a BA/ BS degree in Wellness, Exercise Science, Health/ Physical Education or a related field, or its equivalent in experience, and 2-3 years experience in YMCA/ similar agency and a strong commitment to the YMCA philosophy and values. Due to the focus of this position, qualified applicants will be certified in personal training (ACSM, NSCA, ACE, other approved national certification) and a national group exercise certification or related experience in the areas of group exercise class instruction is also a plus. Well defined administration skills and proven abilities in the areas of personnel management (hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating), program planning, budget, conflict resolution, public relations and record-keeping and facility utilization, maintenance and care are required. The Associate Wellness Director is part of a staff team and must possess a leadership style that is team oriented. The position requires continual pursuit of further education in the areas of exercise science, wellness, supervision, and member service.
Skills Required
