At GE Aerospace, we design, build, and service advanced aircraft engines and systems that power flight. At our Strother Field site, the Propulsion Engineer plays a key role in troubleshooting engine and hardware issues, performing engineering analysis, and supporting hardware disposition and work scope development for CFM56, CF34-8, CF34-10, and PP20 engines. 
In this role, you will partner closely with Operations, Quality, and cross-functional engineering teams to resolve technical issues, improve shop efficiency, and support safe, compliant, and on-time execution. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving problems at the root cause and driving practical solutions in a production and overhaul environment. 

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Troubleshoot complex engine and hardware issues using engineering analysis, data review, and structured problem-solving methods 

  • Analyze inspection findings and test data to determine repair, replace, or reuse dispositions for engine hardware 

  • Develop incoming engine work scopes that balance technical requirements, customer needs, cost, and schedule 

  • Partner with Quality, Operations, and Engineering teams to resolve issues and implement corrective actions 

  • Support continuous improvement efforts that improve engine performance, reliability, and shop efficiency 

  • Provide clear technical guidance and documentation to production teams, internal stakeholders, and customers 

  • Complete perfection reviews and certify engine serviceability in accordance with applicable requirements 

  • Contribute to a safe, compliant, and quality-focused operating environment across shop and engineering activities 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 3 years of experience in production, overhaul, maintenance, or other operational environment; or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 7 years of experience in production, overhaul, maintenance, or other operational environment 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with jet engine workscoping and hardware disposition in Aerospace, production, or MRO environment 

  • Experience interpreting inspection findings, serviceability criteria, and test data 

  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective actions 

  • Familiarity with CFM56, CF34-8, CF34-10, PP20, or similar engine platforms 

  • Lean / Six Sigma or equivalent problem-solving or quality training 

  • Experience collaborating in a matrixed, cross-functional environment 

  • SAP experience 

  • Proficiency with MS Office and basic engineering analysis tools 

Additional Information 

  • Schedule: 1st Shift, approximately 45 hours per week, with paid overtime 

  • Rotational on-call availability for emerging issues 

  • Must pass background checks and drug screenings 

  • Role may require lifting and work in varying environmental conditions
