We're seeking someone to join our Valuation Control IT team as a Java Software Engineer in Finance Technology to build modern, scalable solutions that automate complex valuation workflows and directly empower the business with faster, more accurate, and data-driven decision-making.

This is a Java Developer role, which is part of the job family responsible for innovative solutions for regulatory and financial reporting, general ledger, profit & loss calculations, securities bookkeeping, budgeting & forecasting, and tax filing.

What you'll do in the role:
Contribute to the function through complex project tasks and initiatives.
Interact regularly with team members and occasionally leadership on a range of topics.
Build and improve Scala/Java middle-tier services
Design and create relational, columnar and NoSQL database entities while consulting with data modeling team
Collaborate with the business, understand their needs, and own solution delivery
Collaborate with other IT teams, to build the most effective IT solutions for our customers
Challenge existing thinking and solutions, propose innovative ideas and techniques
Handle the SDLC processes and improve the tooling for DevOps
What you'll bring to the role:
Ability to process information, translate into plans and present summaries to stakeholders.
Strong understanding of business line and discipline.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Experience with large-scale distributed systems.
Experience with designing and implementing test scenarios.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Working knowledge of agile development practices, continuous integration, continuous improvement
Identify opportunities to leverage AI to enhance delivery and processes
Curiosity about the financial services industry and willingness to work in a banking environment are highly valued
Strong verbal and written communication skills
At least 4 years relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role.
